so i have a question i just installed the secert cams and i am running with the high output manifold. now i noticed some high end gains but would i benifit with the stock 2.4 manifold to get some low end back or should i stay with the high output manifold.

The HO manifold has proven to hurt engines that arent modified and needing to pull more air. With secret cams I would use the LO manifold since it is still the better design over the crappy 2.4 manifold but has smaller runners that will aid in lower rpm power. However the secret cams will hurt your bottom end also. It has been said on this site that where they add up top they take from down bottom. People with relativly stock engines have run the same track times after the swap.

Was that H.O manifold tested with a proper phenolic adapter to match it to the head? Or was it one of the bs "port mached with a dremel which doesn't match at all" versions of the H.O?

If it wasn't port matched, a loss in power is almost guaranteed.

i also talked to another buddy and he said to stay woth the lo manifold because that is what the secert cams were made for.

so do you think i will get some low end back with the 2.4 plastic manifold?

just thought of another thing i have a 5 speed so i can make up for the lost low end.

LMAO the tested ho manifold was in-fact mastin's manifold with a 2.4 flange welded on.

jared, just try the stocker again. its worth a shot. swapping intake manifolds is an easy job. in any event, if you have not tuned the car in properly with either manifold you are not going to yeild the best results you could.

a tuned ho manifolded car might just yield more power than the stocker tuned. we just do not know. it has never been done.

I must confess... I feel like a monster!

I think the LO will help your low end but with the secret cams I doubt youll ever get it back to what it was before. In the boosted forum someone changed out the vemon manifold, which is a metal copy of a stock 2.4 manifold, for a log style manifold and gained 30 some HP. Granted naturally aspirated engines wot see that kind of difference but it shows a restriction of the 2.4 design.

Sweetness GT the HO manifold had a 2.4 flange wielded on if i remeber correct.

Hm that changes my opinion then. I don't think secret cams will flow enough to utilize a H.O manifold.

We need the same test done with an L.O now... same welded flange setup.

I agree, either go with the stocker or with a L.O.... I experienced a dramatic power loss (mostly torque) with the unmatched H.O and secret cams.
