Dam-it Muffins (Event) wrote:WHAT SIZE TB DO I HAVE?

here are the TB sizes for 3rd gens.

2.2L 52mm

2.4L 52mm

2.3L 56mm

Ecotec 2.2L 58mm

So will a tb from an ecotec bolt up to a 2000+ 2200? Reason I'm asking is, I wanted a little more power out of my 2200, until I finish building up my ecotec. Then just slap the ecotec TB back on to the ecotec when it's time to swap engines.

chance it wont be a direct fit as in the throttle cable plate rotor (the black plastic piece)

mainly though going to a bigger tb, just moves your band higher... engine will still take in the same amount of air.... you;ll just lose low end and seem to gain top end, but its just a moving of the power band until something is done internally to increase the engines air usage.

Ok I just skimmed over all this and I'm wondering if a intake for a 2.4 Z24 (short) will work on a 2003 ecotec ... from what I read it sounds like it will with some messing around I just want to be completely sure .... thanks for the help and no flaming head of time lol

You can pretty much take any intake and make it fit but if you're going to buy it brand new, why purchase an intake for a different motor?

Not flaming but just go ahead and buy one for your ECOTEC motor.

nope, only real secret to a cam is to get a custom grind.

timing notch in the older 2.2 is different than the 2200. trupowercavalier i believe messed up his engine trying that...

I also recommend getting a flexhose to connect the pump to the sending unit. thats on the left hand side of the site under "install parts"

So would it be a good idea to buy the LT1 Kit FPG003 or just the pump and the flex hose?

first i would like to thank you for the time spent writing this, it was very informative and down to earth, next i would like to ask about the web sites on making your own intake i am a poor college student and i will admit i have done some street racing but i am taking it to the track this summer i would like to start "upgradeing" performance but as of right now i am straped for cash, and have a shop to utilize, the web sites you listed are no longer correct, would you by chance have any more? oh and do you know of any one that grinds cams? thank you for your time

Brent, I'll get one of your questions. Both Crane Cams and Comp Cams can do regrinds, along with many other cam manufacturers.
I favor Crane Cams, because they have always given me outstanding support and an excellent product. Just call Crane's Tech Line and follow the directions for Dave Maxwell, he's in charge of the Sport Compact division and extremely knowledgeable.

As far as performance for your Ecotec, start with reading NJHK's thread at the top of this forum. You can also do a search for anything you might have a question about, there's allot of very informative threads that have already been posted.

Sensor, MAP 09350899

The cross reference on it is for
Chevrolet Silverado
2002
All applications

2002-2003
2500 HD, 3500

2004
2500 HD, 3500, Eng VIN 1

GMC Sierra

2002
All applications

2002-2003
2500 HD, 3500

If your going turbo you might want this metal screw in IAT sensor part number 25036751, cross referenced from a 3rd gen camaro. It will screw into the charge pipe and is a direct plug into the stock IAT harness

Thanks for that part# Can you kind of point me in the direction where the IAT senser plugs into the harness on the 2.4? My harness is out of the car in a box and I just kinda want to know what it looks like so I can label it for my swap..

Thanks.
