1.6 Roller rocker question for 98+ engines
Friday, February 15, 2013 6:15 AM
I have read that when you do the 1.6 RR swap it does not center on the valve tip so it can cause premature valve guide wear.

Has anyone doe this mod and put some miles on the motor after and experienced this?

Thanks in advance.

98+ should be self aligning, there are no guide plates. Pre 98 have guide plates.

Yes. From what I read though, the 1.6 rockers are not quite long enough to center the tip on the end of the valve, thus causing side wear.

well once we pack the miles on our 1.6 gold race equiped ln2 I'll post up any wear issues but many of people have swapped and I've not seen one post about side wear on the self aligning rockers.

Arent 2200 rockers like 1.56 ratio rockers? I remember reading this somewhere. So youre pretty much just doing the mod for roller tips. Right?

Iirc event measured them out to be 1.54 .......so that should give you an idea about how long ago that was posted up.
