Have you thought about trying to find a saab or 2.4 manifold to put on there?

Yea, haven't found one and don't know what to look for.

Man everything looks great. Glad to see that k brace is getting some love!

Too bad about the exhaust manifold, wish I knew of one you could grab.

Don't really have time to order. Going to the junkyard in 10 hours. If I cannot find what I need, the engine will be in the car monday.

Not sure if any follows this but:
Engine is installed
Got a revised oil cap. Note the dome shape.
Got all the San turbo lines
Saab water housing does not clear the transmission
Got a new timing cover
New timing cover gasket
Balance shaft delete kit finished
Old 1.5 inch exhaust gone

Here's how you get the LK9 water housing to clear the f23...

I had to grind down the welds a little bit, bit it clear a the casting at the shift cable bracket now. I just trimmed as much of the housing as needed (still plenty of space inside to not restrict flow), made the filler out of some 1/16" wall pipe, and had it TIG'd in.

As for the manifold, I have a high pressure saab manifold sitting here if you want to try it, never mocked it up to a L61 head, so can't say for sure if it covers the port or not. But it just collecting dust here, I'd love to turn it into a few bucks lol.

Good thing you replaced the oil filter cap. The old one was looking beat anyway. Like I mentioned via text, be careful which filter you buy from now on since a lot of parts stores still carry the only style. I read a thread somewhere else saying that it created all kinds of problems when they used an old style filter on a new style cap.

Sux about the water neck but Matt's fix worked perfect for him so I'd go that route if possible.

Ya.

The new style filter cap can only be used with the new style filter. The old style filter is not made for the pressures the new oil cap produces. It will cause the cap to fold into itself.

I only buy AC Delco.

Apparently GM put a TSB out about aftermarket filters causing engine noise due to filters being inferior.

Installed the down pipe. Found out its 2.5 inches. What a pain, had to drop the steering rack a good 2 feet on the passenger side to maneuver the pipe around to get the flange to clear the thermostat housing. Now I have to take it back off because I forgot the gasket.

Also, fixed my coolant hoses. Had the upper and lower radiator hose mixed up. Now I need a new lower.
Installed the exhaust
Installed the k member
Started installing the wiring harnes
Installed 1 strut. Took a good 2 hours.

Finished the front suspension.
Installed the axles.
Got most of the wiring done.
Need to make a new Transmission shifter cable bracket.

For some reason when my control arms are fully extended my steering rack arm on the passenger side hits the swaybar, I do not know if this is normal or not.

Got the whip started today after my starter exploded.

2nd start up, had to fix a huge oil leak. Forgot a crush washer on the oil feed from the block.

Last video, car idles fine but man does this thing shake. I may have made a mistake deleting the balance shafts and using solid bushings. The dash shakes pretty good.

I need to find the source of the noise. I am probably going to pull the valve cover.

on a side note, my valve cover looks pretty

Thats not a good sound on ecos.

Hoping for exhaust leak.

But that sounds more knocky.

Did you release the tensioner? did you torque it to the proper spec?

I torqued everything to the specs I have.

rob,

We talked about the misfires a few days ago...

Also the sway bar... looks like it is installed below the rack.... its supposed to be above the rack.... thats why it is fitting the a arms...??

The sway bar only hits the rack when the control arm is fully extended. Compress a 1/8in it does not hit. I do not know how you can install it any differently when I installed the k member fully assembled and bolted the rack on last. That is the reverse procedure for how I removed it. I unbolted the k member and the steering rack and dropped it all as one so it should be right. These bushings are so stiff. I had to have to people hang on my control arm so I could put the spindle over the ball joint. It is crazy how stiff they are. I could not budge the control arm by myself.

On a side note, I fixed the misfire. Had to get a new ICM. Now it is purring like a kitten. Now I just have Install the radiator and all the charge piping.

Do you have pictures of it installed? I am almost positive I tried installing it the other way and it did not fit.

collar is on wrong....

the collar or tube spaces the bar up from the control arm.

From the bottom of the control arm it goes

bushing
washer
collar or tube
bushing
bar
bushing and washer followed by nut.

Bar sits too low and is hitting because the collar is not giving it a boosted height.

Not my car, but you get the idea

I think you misunderstood what I said. My bar only hits the steering arm. It does not hit the control arm or frame. This is only when the suspension is fully extended.
