Figured this was going to be geared toward j body's so others could see where the weak links are....I can add other stuff with pics as well if we're going that route.

Yes, that is the idea. Not only can we create as realistic source for things that break, we can also compile a list of errors.

Looks like a rod let go but the balance shaft was there to catch it

Engine type: 2.4LDP
Component that failed: Something on the bottom end, no yet determined
Setup used: Stock bottom end 79k hard miles, PnP head, SS valves, Crane 224 duration .430 lift intake cam, HO exhaust cam, HO manifold with 70mm TB, Modded LSJ 1 3/4' primaries header, 3" exhaust.
Circumstances: Someting on the bottom end gave out at roughly 5k rpm, definitely lost a cylinder and there was a loud bang and a cloud of grey smoke/steam and oil everywhere. Can't actually see the carnage but I am guessing it has to do with journal #3.
Who made the part: GM
If an installation error, please admit it. Not unless the top end is what caused the destruction.

Just for fun:

Engine type: sbc 305 v
Component that failed: rod bearing
Setup used: Stock TPI 305 from a trans am with an edlebrock performer cam and a holley 650 carb, spd tranny, in a 71 c10
Circumstances: Just won a race against a buddy and it started knocking.
Who made the part: GM
If an installation error, please admit it: Factory at 150k miles
