Cam gears 180* out?

Pretty sure the saab, lsj l61 all share the same timing components. The cams will be degreed slightly different then the l61 though.

Got the engine retimed. Appearently the l61 keyed cams don't work with the Saab head. Had to time the engine at top dead center then use the Saab cams and time each cam indevidually.

Installed the valve cover.
Installed the map sensor.
Installed carbon fiber hood.
Installed the valve cover and vacuum lines.

Using l61 cam gears they were over 180* off. I had Evilution come down and help me. We ended up switching to the Saab gears after the engine was at top dead center and then turned each cam manually and tightened the gears. We compared mine to his for timing since I wasn't spending all the money for the Saab cam alignment tool. Also using the l61 gears turned 180* made the exhaust cam hit the pistons. That's how we found out it was off. It was a big pain to time this thing.

I don't think they were 180* off, but definitely off. Stupid thing with the Saab, is there is no key ways on the cam gears to lock the cams into...the gears just have flat collars where the cam seats against, and you manually line them up with a tool...so on the Saab, you would set the crank to TDC, install the cams and align them using the tools, then just pop on the gears and go (no marks on the gears even to correspond to a colored link on the chain).
I used my motor as a reference, set it to TDC, and marked the bearing cap where the center of the cam lobe would line up too, then transferred that onto Rob's motor to set it. Complete PITA lol.

These are the tools Kent Moore makes for the LK9 head. You take off the bearing caps at cylinder #1 and replace with these, and they hold the cams at the right position while you bolt on the gears and tighten the chain.

They were thinking "how can we design this so that you NEED to buy a $250 piece of aluminum to time the motor?", haha!
Bastards.

Intake hose came from saabcentral.com they were doing a groupware buy on all saab hoses and lines. I posed on here back in November begining of December and everyone shot me down and I think the post was deleted so I never brought it up again. I just bought the intake hose and not the whole kit.

Installed the icm cover.
Ran a new ground for the icm.
Installed the trailing arm endlinks.
Repositioned the intake tube so my hood closes. ( still rubs slightlyX
Going it wrap the intake tube in foam and change the hood vent to plastic mesh instead of metal. Must protect my intake at all costs!

Got some tuning done today thanks to Evilution and oldskool. Have to figure out why my boost gauge reads 0 and the car doesn't seem like it's making boost.

I will probably be changing the badges to something else not 100% sure yet. I may remove the moldings but I'm worried about seeing lines from the paint fading or pulling the paint off. This summer it will be repainted.

Got it running good. Running on 4-5 psi. Not sure what's going on, might have a boost leak or something. Should be seeing around 8.
