with a good tuner at your side?

is this something the "grassroots" guy can have? or is it something that you would need to do then have it immediately towed to the nearest tuner?

simply curious that's all.....

Disclaimer - as of this moment, anyone planning on doing this swap must stick to 2006 LE5 motors for complete safety of forged internals. We are 90% sure 2007's are ok as well, but are certain 2006 is forged. As Ryan and I gather data we will let you guys know

The rods are forged on some years of the le5

Lol. I may look into the wheel upgrade and what not first. I know on a l61 they about run out of breath couldn't imagine a le5 along with the le5 intake manifold as well lol.

Eh, I'd stay away from spray on any variant of the eco, my opinion though.

Seems as there is little interest in a second run, we need to get this out there.

I just found out some refreshing news.

GM lists TWO different part numbers for LE5 Connecting rods, 06-07 are the same but different from 08, 08+ are the same. The positive to this is that you can get 4 Connecting rods for about 270$ shipped through gmpartsdirect. Somewhat good news. I am going to order 1 of the 06 part numbered rods to confirm this possibility. This will allow you to get 4 rods and cryotreat them for under $400.

how similar are those rods to l61 rods? I have a feeling the big and little ends are the same but the length is different. If the lengths were to be the same then that would be super duper awesome for people not willing to do the sway but want to build their bottom ends for cheap.

which rods? the 08+ are the same material as te L61, that wasthe problem. The LE5 rods have nothing in common with L61 as far as length. You'd need to run the crank and rods in the L61

No the good rods, why would anyone actually want to just put the same rods in with different length. I was thinking that if the rods were the same or similar then people with l61's could just use those. with custom pistons and save a but ton of money over normal forged internals.

I am not to sure what you're getting at. You'd have to use L61 rods in an L61 crank/bottom end, if you wanted to, I'd suppose it'd be possible to get an LE5 crank and good rods, butt then why not just get an 06-07?
