Hello everyone, ive got an interesting topic for a v-mount radiator setup. Before I start, I wanted to talk about the factory cooling system design for the 2.2L ohv engines (2200 sfi). Its the motor in my car and its been crazy durable for me, yet if you have one then you know of the issue with overheating/ running hot alot. These motors get hot very easily, mainly because of the way the engine is positioned in the bay, with the exhaust manifold facing the radiator. Now before people start saying "thats not why they get hot". Let me elaborate aloooot. The coolant gets hot in the motor which then goes through the head and out the upper coolant tube from the top left. Which is hot to begin with, but hey lets make it even hotter by going through the tube that is being heated up by the radiant heat from the head that is a few inches away. Theeen the exhaust manifold directly under it is heating up that tube even more, but thats not all... After the coolant passes through that tube it goes into the upper radiator hose and into the radiator which has been heated up by the exhaust manifold as well. Soo the radiator is trying to do its job but the whole setup kinda fights with it in the process. On top of that our radiators are roughly an inch thick in the core, which isnt very efficient to begin with. Then goes back into the motor slightly cooler and repeats the process over and over. The whole cooling system basically operates at its maximum capacity from the factory. Thanks Chevy... Soo I solved this problem with a very interesting idea that id seen on different cars, and involves quite alot of modification. But after alot of thinking and planning the end result can maybe speak for itself. Heres some pictures down below.

In the same exact spot. The bottom of the radiator is sitting about 4 inches back from the location where it usually sits and the rest of the radiator just lays forward. Theres alot more room to mount a turbo in any configuration now, top mount or bottom mount. Also a larger turbo can be used if needed.

air flow to a intercooler wont be as good.
The setup that I plan on doing when I do the turbo build, will be the v mount setup where the intercooler is on the bottom laying flat and air ducts directing air straight to it and to the radiator as well. Also a vented hood that will extract the air going through the radiator straight up out of the vent. Like the picture below, but with ducting.

The only problem I see is that there are too many places for the air to go around the radiator.
