Hello All, I know this is probably the most stupid question I could ask on the org since day one I signed up on this forum back in 1999. But here goes nothing
. I've tried a couple different exhaust systems and they always turn up loud and Im deaf and it still annoys me when i wear hearing aid. Im looking for an open 2.5" exhaust system that only gives a small amount of throaty sound during WOT. I have to get a new catback cuz i just realized my isuzu catback crap is all rusted up. I can get a custom catback made at a local shop but what im asking is... what kind of muffler should i get that is quiet but gives a throaty response when i go WOT? Or do i have to have a "free flowing" resonator (if that exists) and that'll make a difference no matter which muffler i use? Thanks for your time.
...waiting for responses....

I dunno. Id put whatever muffler you want on there, and then put the longest resonator you can fit on there. I want to do probably the same thing, I'm not a fan of the loud exhausts but i want something with very little restriction. I havent heard many exhausts that i really know whats on there to know what sounds quiet or loud together.
dynomax super turbo muffler. very nice deep tone, but not loud. matter of fact, the tone is so deep and bassy, that it will set of car alarms--but it is weird coz it's so quiet

Gonna have to use a resonator after the cat convertor.
Either a glasspack/magnapack or a long round tube muffler.
Or a series of mufflers
Magnaflow 6" Round muffler:
inlet/outlet 2.5" body 27" overall 33" part# 13966
Since you want the 2.5 pipes, main thing is to get the resonatoer inner core the same size.
Good luck,

Remember....syringes go in the RED waste basket.
If I put a glasspack where the resonator is and a performance muffler after it will it be load and also not have so much back pressure?
The resonator is probably a run of the mill glass pack.
Resonators are just basically anything you put to reduce unwanted noise AND/OR backpressure.
So you can use a glasspack or another muffler.
And the less restrictive piece you use, the less backpressure.
Some glasspacks/mufflers are so damn restrictive anyway, you can sometimes add back pressure.
