Does anyone know what belt is needed to delete the ac from a Ecotec. i know Suncavi had posted this info at one time, but i was unable to find it when i searched. thanks for any help.

I'll try and find out John... up here in Canada, A/C was optional... few cars had it. There's loads in the wrecking yards w/o a/c

Thanks John. Let me know if they have a pulley delete like the LD9, or just a shorter belt. Looking for the shorter belt route truly.
John how is your car coming along?

As far as GM numbers go... there's a different belt... A/C uses 24466973 and w/o A/C uses 24466976. I can't tell from my parts diagrams if there's a different pulley involved or not.
dosnt mantapart.com have a kit to get rid of it.i know no one wants to order from them but i wonder whats in that kit
later,james
if you get rid of it can you keep it installed and just run the shorter belt or will it be in the way? Being able to swap the belt and bypass A/C would be an easy quick thing to do on weekends before going autocrossing
no the compressor will be in the way to swap belts

someone should look or try this and let me know. cause if its a go without removing the compressor so i can still swap belts for road trips and stuff, i'm all over it
You think this could be done on an Eco with the SC?
Then what belt?
Eh...old man with a Corvette now...it was bound to happen sooner rather than later right?

You would need an additional pulley where the A/C is. We have a two sided belt, I have not seen any different sizes available aside from the stage 2 belt directly from GM.

I'm about 99% sure it will not be... It was not in the way on my brother's 04 cav.

its got to be damn close then if it isnt in the way. thats just what i was told when i did the delete, was the compressor needs to come out. all the better if it doesnt i got rid of my a/c stuff anyways i never use it.
will be nice to know for sure for future reference

Well I bought the belt # listed above. I think I'll try friday.
GM PART # 24466976

Well I checked it out on a 2.0L saab. (souldn't be too different than the 2.2)
The belt cleared everything. So you wouldn't need to remove the compressor to bypass it.
pretty much any auto parts store should have it when they do the search do a 03-05 without AC and should pop up the right part #
