Does or has anyone ever tried installing the Intake manifold from a 2.4L ecotec on a 2.2L?? Crateenginedepot.com
13hp increase?
Intake doesn't fit on my ecotec due to alternator clearance

On crateenginedepot, that 2.4L is off the 2.4L VVT Ecotec motor on the cobalts. I'm not sure if there is room on the cavies for it, but if you have a 2.2L Eco in your cobalt, then it's a decent upgrade. You'll lose mid range power (3200rpm to like 4200rpm), but the high end is a big increase.

that thread is more garbage than information. From what I was able to pull from it.. it fits... it works, outside of that.. I'm lost. I too have been looking at that manifold and am interested in if it will actually fit an 04 cav.

Very interested. Will my 62mm TB also fit then on the 2.4 Intake manifold. Does it fit J-body Eco's for sure, anyone know?

I have one on my 03'. Works well. It moves the throttle body up a little but nothing too drastic. Bolts right on and the kit includes everything for the swap.

since that old thread turned into nothing but garbage, here's some insight:

I've seen the CED dyno test of the manifold on a 2.2 cobalt.. they gained 12hp and lost like 3tq or something in the lower midrange with NO tuning

HOWEVER!!!!
this is because they have an MAF system, so it can automatically compensate to a certain degree for increased flow. On a Jbody, you NEED to tune with this manifold to see the full potential gain.

It works with a stock throttle body, so 62mm bored will fit perfect. Same goes for intakes, everything on a jbody will work fine.
The only thing you need to do is re-route your vacuum lines and tee stuff in as needed, thats all.

The adapter plate that CED gives you needs to have a hole drilled in it for the IAC valve. just mark it with your throttle body (make sure its in the right spot) and goto town. DO NOT f it up cuz it'll make your car idle at 3000rpm, the hole needs to stay within the IAC window section of the tbody.

this manifold is the best option for ecos unless going turbocharged in which case a surge tank manifold would be ideal

Yes there would be...at least from me, and I'm sure everybody who has asked in this thread would say yes also.

guys, its not that hard..

if you can turn a ratchet and buy some hoses from the local auto store you can install this manifold...

Yeah its not hard. They are plastic there is what 8 bolts that bring it to the head. plus the 2(?) hoses and the TB.

If you can put gas in ur car u can do the 2.4 intake.

or if u can take off the 2.2 manifold u should be able to put on the other one... its pretty much that simple. if u have issues then put the hammer down, lets not hurt anyone....
