Need more Power for my cavy

I have a 1998 Cavalier Z24 with the 2.4L. It has OBX Headers and Ram air intake. But I have no top end any ideas. I dont have a lot of money to spend. What about Cams!

Well performance mods cost alot of money...so either get ready to spend the "lot of money" or just dont do it.

Otherwise you can get some secret cams for cheap. This cam swap would probably be the cheapest route to got with.
And while your in there P&P the head. More to mention but like I said it cost money!

That sounds good. I also heard of an acceleration Booster, any Ideas, I don't think its worth it. But I got smoked by a stock z24 with only an "acceleration Booster".

"Acceleration booster"? I am assuming youre talking about the intake temp resistor mod? Those are BS, I would assume there are other factors in you're loss in that race...

What do you consider "A lot of money"?

I would research.

In the time it takes you to properly research, and develop a plan, you can be saving money.

That way you'll have the money then the knowledge on how to make the car faster.

With the mods you have, you're never going to go over 110(thats not to say the car cant do it). Doing so other than at a track is illegal, and you wont go that fast in the 1/4. (currently)

Talk to a tuning shop that has HP Tuners... know it will cost nearly $500 - 600 depending on the shop, and unless your car can break 110 in the quarter mile, there is no legal purpose of removing the governor, and is not recommended.

Also FYI... you have an OBX Header .. using "headers" implies you have a v shaped engine and run 2 headers. in line 4 cyls only have one header.

Lets just say your not ready to go past the governor.....you need to upgrade your suspension and brake system before you get that far otherwise your just asking to flip over. And dont even mention Nitrous....cause your not ready for that either!

KYB AGX or GR2s????

What about sway bars, strut bars, control arms, bushings...

when you replaced the struts and installed the springs, did you get new mounts or use the factory ones??

theres a lot more to a suspension than simply lowering it.

2.4L have top end. it just doesnt seem like it becasue they have sqaure torque and horspoewer numbers. they also dont quit till almost redline so i dont know why ur complaining about top end. if u think the 2.4L is bad try driving a 2200 2.2L. but if your really want top end still, a bigger exhaust will move the power band higher up. cams too. cam swaps are NOT a cheap mod.

couple hundred.....could go talk to a performance shop and see if they could P&P the Throttle body for ya. give ya only about another five horse, but with later mods could be sufficient

that still aint good enough to handle over 110 mph. we are talking about shock, springs, bushings, sway bars, sturt tower bars, everything. then of course there is a little system called the brakes
