Converting Auto Ecotec Harness to 5 Spd Ecotec Harness
Monday, January 05, 2009 7:39 AM
Ok guys, I am having a serious problem here... I have been on the phone with about 50 junk yards in the past 2 weeks trying to locate myself a 5 speed ecotec engine harness, every damned yard only has auto harnesses. My question is how hard could it be to convert it to a 5 speed harness and what would I need to do?

Thanks

as far as I know, you can use the auto harness for a 5 speed. the only connectors you'd use would be the VSS and reverse light. nothing else.

^^^ As said above, as well as you connect the wires for the park/neutral safety switch.

The entire plug can just be shoved out of view if you want.

can't you just bypass that switch?

Yeah... by connecting the 2 wires together since there is no switch.

I've been using an auto harness since the swap. I gave up on 6 months of calling around and searching. I'll just work with the auto one and HPT when I get it to turn off the dash lights.

I'm not sure about that but I'm running an auto ecu AND wiring harness without abs on a 5spd with abs.
