Good Car Alarm?
Sunday, March 20, 2005 11:20 PM
I was just wandering if anyone knew of any good places around the Madison or Fondulac area to get a good deal on a car alarm and install. I just kitted my car and have way too much money stuck into the stereo and everything else. I am going to be pulling it out of storage as soon as I finish up the kit and need to put an alarm on before I bring it back out too school. I would prefer to find someplace in or near Madison so I could just bring it out to school and have some place do it around there. Any one know of any places that have good deals and do a good job. Or is there any one who has installed them before and would be willing to help install if I bought one?

Im not from your area... but... I picked up a little alarm from AutoZone or Checker (something like that). Its a Bulldog brand. Not the greatest. It was like $30. It has a 2-level shock sensor, and a voltage change sensor. Simple 2-wire install, took me like 10 minutes. Came with one keyfob.

For 30 bucks its a pretty good little system, never failed me, and has a great deal of customization options that I wasnt expecting.

You might want something a little more though, I just used mine to keep people from doing @!#$ to my car in the school parking lot.

whatever you do...(sorry SandStorm-J) but do NOT go with the bull dog alarm, i've heard a LOT of bad comments about them~ The cheapest I've foudn to get an alarm put in is between 200 and 300 bucks..
to save on installation I'd ahve to suggest buying it from somewhere such as best buy and they include the installation~

I bought an audiovox alarm...which is really nice..or I like it atleast

Just as a clarification I am looking for a good deal on an alarm with pretty much all the bells and whistles. I know it's not going to be cheap but if it keeps things from happening to my car(ie things getting jacked) it's worth it. I figure with the kit on now it'll make it a bigger target and besides my room mate has had his car broken into three times in two years here. Two of the times were right on the same block we live. The third time was while he was working at the Menards on the west side.

I WORK AT MENARDS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!...here in winona that is!

Do not go with a cheap alarm then if you want true performance~ You'll only get out of the alarm what you put into it~

My friend works at Menards.

Best Buy is probably the easiest place to go, and they will install.
