its not much to mess up. Just make sure everything is cleaned properly first. Autozone, pepboys, orileys any place that has paint really you can get it. Get an enamel based paint [not lacquer] and i personally would lay down 2 light coats of a primer. 2-3 coats of the color of your choice [make sure they arent thick coats, just lightly layer them and make sure the paint fully dries between coats. then just 2-3 coats of gloss. Make sure that is a enamel also though and the paint if fully dry before you gloss it. All in all bout a hour and a half you should have it done

do you tape the numbers and letters?

I taped the numbers and letters on mine. It was my first attempt and it didnt come out all that awesome but looks OK. I've been meaning to sand the paint off of it and redo it. Its not on my car anymore. That is if it will even come off LOL.

A lot of people (what im going to do next time) find a color for the background and leave the raised parts polished. Like with your car you could paint the whole cover black, then take a block sander and sand the paint off all the raised areas then polish the raised parts until shiny, then clear coat over it.

thats what i would do. You dont need a polisher to get it polished. Just use like maybe a 120 grit paper to get the paint off then get a super super fine grit for car detailing and go over it wet sanding it in small circles. it will polish it, it takes time and work but in the end its worth it

lol yeah you can. My buddy owns primo performance they could do it there and if you do it there it would end up being powder coated so in the long run it would be more reliable then just painting it because painting you can get paint drips, chipping, just multiple things

Xenon gas charged bulbs, bright white, yet still legal unlike blue bulbs.

Blue bulbs ARE ILLEGAL. The xenon gas makes the light bright white, they are legal, and you will love the difference. I would say xenon is your best bet for headlights, with the exception of high intensity discharge setup, but hids are way more expensive than replacement bulbs.
