Live in Ontario? own a Cavalier?
Thursday, May 19, 2005 12:13 PM
Hi Guys/Girls,

Just wanted to do a check as to who here lives in Ontario with a cavalier? OntarioCavs is looking to expand its show team this year. There are no membership fees or anything, we just like to gather a bunch of enthusiasts together in the area.

At the least, come check out our forums at www.ontariocavs.com click on forums.

Hope to see you there, thanks for reading

Ryan.

how heavily modified do you have to be? do you have to have a kit or would a 02 lip kit on an 01 for example with rims have a chance?

If you are modified in other ways, like bags, audio, custom projects.. you would still be considered. just remember, its a show team, so if you have something to offer to a car show, then you have something to offer to OC.

Sorry guys the forum is out of bandwidth, Woops...... It should be back soon, Stay tuned.

Even if your not joining the show team, you can still sign up on the forums and chat with the local J enthusiasts. We share our messageboard with OntarioFires as well... lots of nice people!!

My application got denied my first time applying to OntarioFires.... can't let it get to you, and just be sure to not make a premature application. Just re-apply when you think its ready, no harm in that.

I know the Ontariofires are quite picky about their membership and I'm assuming that the Ontariocavs are the same. This is actually one of the things I like about the club. I know that if a car is involved, it's probably a sweet ride and not some ricermobile with a bunch of ghetto mods. Much respect there!

Don't be discouraged if you don't get in. They're not a bunch of snobs or anything. They just have high standards and know how they want to be represented.

ya exactly...

first time i applied i got declined and i was pretty bummed. u gotta look at the other cars in the team though....kinda gives u a perspective on what the team is shooting for. I am pretty new to OF and i can tell you that it is one of the best things i have been involved in. All u can do is apply

Its like trying out for any team... not even car related. You come prepared, give it your all, and if you dont make it, you try harder next time. Never give up, do what you want to do, be yourself and people will recongnize.

One thing... yes have a look at what the current members have to get a good understanding on what they're looking for, but don't do it just to be on the team, do it for you, and give them something that shows them what YOU are about. Personalize your car to your taste to make them go wow. Thats when you'll feel good about yourself about making the team.

Every coach looks for a player that has a skill to help the team........ show it... show it with pride, beable to stand beside your car and say.... "this is what I'm about".

I've built my car up with things I want, making it look the way I want it to. I've done almost nothing to the interior of my car so my chances of being accepted into OC are probably quite slim, so I don't think I'd bother applying.

If I did apply and was turned down, I wouldn't go out of my way to "bring it up to spec", to reach the standards of approval of entry.

It's my car, right?

In most circumstances this would apply but since it takes alot of money do "mod" you car then its a whole diferent ball game. Not all of us want to dump 10 000$ + into a cav u know, but we would be proud to show team support, help out with things and represent in your area who you are and bring poeple to the site. Thats all but i see were your comming from as well, u just want to best of the best

I understand that point too, but there is a reason why OF and OC were created. If you want to join a club to do those things, you have the JCO, if you want to be a strictly "show car" team, then OC/OF is where to go.

Its just differnent views, etc. I am a member of both the JCO and OntarioFires. I think my point can be viewed negatively, but it really shouldn't. I stared at this post for quite a few minutes trying to word it properly. JCO is where you have fun, go to awesome meets, talk to other enthusiasts, etc. Anyone can join at any time. OntarioFires and OntarioCavs on the other hand are primarely focussed on getting exposure for the team, and to be in the show circuit and hopefully get some honors, etc. Exposure is everything.

I still think my wording is wrong, and my explanation is off a little bit, but like OntarioFires saying is "It's time to step up", which could explain a few things.

I would apply,... but I can't make it to half of the car shows you guys are involved in...
So I figure, If you can't represent the team, don't apply...

Good luck with your expansion... I'm sure in a few years, you will have all kinds of j's on there.
