Importing a Car From the States?
Friday, June 24, 2005 3:47 PM
All I could find in my search was importing cars from overseas.

I am thinking about bringing a car over from the states. An Audi TT convertable to be exact. The reason I am buying one there is because they are cheaper, much cheaper. But what I want to know is, what is involved in it? What ahs to be done to the car? I would most likely fly down and drive it home.

Has anyone on here done it? and was it a royal PITA?

thanks

and yes i know that my 2 posts in this forum have "import" in the title

Its not to hard, I have done a bit of research in the past. Some cars cant get across, it might just need DRL installed to pass inspection, but keep in mind (border fee's if its got A/C it pays extra taxes to.

I dont want to get one that needs anythign done. I want it to be perfect when I get it. Thats why I want to go down and pick it up.

Mr Hatch: why is it more at the boarder for a car with A/C?

Vince: Ya I've wanted one for a while now. And I think I'm actually getting one now! Well its either the TT or a bike... I want both, but I know I can only have one. So we'll see what happens.

Hatch: Thanks, I'll check it out
