looking for ecotec or a place that may have some..
Monday, April 25, 2005 10:29 AM
well here is my deal i need anther ecotec motor preferrable just the bottom end for my project motor but if its the whole motor i could use the extra parts for something else. i have looked on ebay and didn't see any that looked decent. don't care about mileage on the motor and would preferr it to be in Fl if at all possible. any help would be greatly appreciated.

p.s. also tried some junkyards in my area but nothing yet and i really need this soon.

Call LKQ of North Florida. Which is in Gainesville.

I just called them and they have 3 ecotecs, 2003, 1 with 21k miles. Also including a 600 or 6 month warranty.

You guys don't seem to understand what is involved in the eco swap. You need the follwing:

Engine
Transmission
Complete wiring harness
ECU/BCU
Upper motor mount
Transmission mounts (unless you swap from an auto to an auto)
Gauge cluster
Ignition cylinder
Brake mastercylinder
And some various sensors.

Your much better off looking for a wrecked cavalier or sunfire that goes for about 1000-1500.

And its reccomended that you swap gas tanks (with fuel pump), even though suncavi did so without swapping. If you don't swap the gas tank your gas gauge will not work properly.

Also forgot about the fuel lines and exhaust.

well he's got an 03 (assuming by his sig) so he just needs an engine, looks like he's either making a turbo engine or a powerful N/A engine but needs a spare to build so his car isn't down forever wiating on an engine build

There is also Mark's (Ocala) here in town and Damron's in Crystal River, Damron's usually has motor/tranny for bidding on ebay. Last time the had a eco from a G/A with 14K for $400 buy it now.

He asked for the bottom end of a ecotec motor, Zach.
I don't believe there is all that stuff on the bottom end. Is there. News to me.

Oh, and I knew that he wasn't doing a swap, and needed a core. Since I heard him talking about it last week in Ocala.
