I have a 99 long block. Was running when I pulled it from the car. Has about 125,000 miles on it. I was thinking of keeping it, but wouldn't be apposed to selling it, since I'll have a spare motor once I pull my current 99 motor.

was this a late year 99 engine? I know some changes happened mid year and I'm basically trying to skip the whole knock sensor modifications to run in my 02. Unless they are easier than I think.

Gary just told me to pickup an insert and I would be OK. I need to buy one since my built short block is a 97 with 99+ wiring

threaded insert

Every J 99 Block I have / had, has had, the newer 00-02 style knock sensor. I can get a pic of it. It needs a bath and a rebuild. It wasn't smoking or anything when I pulled it out of my Red 99 Z24 two weeks ago. Compression is good, but I have no idea if or when anything was ever changed in the motor.

To my knowledge. Strip / re4build block, and install everything from you car. Should be "plug-n-play" after that.

You are also.... 235 mi, 3 hours 42 mins from me. I'll get pics tonight.

Perfect! The block is going to get stripped and bored .040 and built but that sounds like the perfect base for my plans.

the only problem with running an insert in the 96-98 block for the 99-02 knock sensor, is that you get A LOT of ghost knock... you'll really want to detune your knock sensor by about 30% after doing so...

i have a bare 2000 block sitting in storage right now... i have the crank shaft, it'll need to be cleaned up... when i pulled the motor apart, number 3 rod bearing was spun.

I have a 99 LD9 complete engine in need of rebuild, still runs but bad lower bearing. Located in ann arbor.

...you want a pic, then help me build something worth taking a pic of....
