Good Luck with that. Only a few people on here have a 3rd gen with the v6 in it. Your better off picking up a 3100 or a 3400 for a couple hundred or so and putting it in your 98.
I would but in NY it won't pass inspection cause of OBD II so it has to be 95 or older so I figured i would see if anyone had a 95 with a v6 for sale just out of curiosity cause its easier to buy the car with it already done
I've never even heard of those lol, but it has to pass inspection no matter what it is and if its not the correct engine for the car for 96+ then it fails

Well you could always swap the v6 in your 98 but wire it up as a 95. just a thought.
Yup car is 98 and that means it will fail if it has a v6 in it and the title, computer, and vin tags all show its a 98. I could always switch vin tags and everything buy its kinda illegal and i would rather not do the swap to my car cause its getting a body kit and everything else, want the v6 to be a sleeper
Yup if the car didn't come with a v6 for that specific vintage putting one in makes it throw codes and OBD II inspection fails it automatically if there are any codes showing and I can't just erase the code when it comes up because then all the monitors have to be reset, it fails if theres any more than 2 not reset
? here.... wouldn't doing a v6 swap you would swap the ecu? right? so if the block is 95 the ecu is 95 there for being OBD I not OBD II. so there really shouldnt be an issue at all an obd I plug is different than an obd II they couldnt even hook it up to do the inspection with the obd II......understand? am i wrong?
i see how the vin and title may be a lil pain but if i were you call up an inspection place and ASK.... anyways back to the block and engine. they would both be obd I but the shell of the car is obd II now tell me if there essentially the same damn thing chasis wise except for a few minor body changes on the outside and what not whats the big deal why is everyone confused about this. all internals incl computer would be obd I and there for would pass as long as you did the swap right........ i dunno maybe im just crazy and wrong. but im using common sense.
Yea, but if the title reads the car to be a 98 it must be inspected OBD II and Im not switching the vin tags and getting a title from a 95 so it can go through OBD I, which is just a saftey inspection no computers or anything) because its considered a federal crime and results in jail time and Im not to keen on goin to jail lol
just get lick and sticks. buddy up with a local inspection garage and make friends... get oil changes done on a regular basis there and offer to buy them lunch once in a while. when they find out u wanna put a v6 in there they should think its a cool idea and maybe will help u get by inspection....
