Just make sure to keep drama out of the club, or it won't work. Get everyone together and come up with some basics for your club... i.e. what does this club mean to you? What is your definition of what a club shoudl be? What do you stand for? What activities do you as a club want to participate in... etc.

That's always a good idea to come up with those things ahead of time so you have some basis for your club. If you're going to have club officers, it's also a good idea to make up a list of what you think that person's job (i.e. Pres, Vice Pres, Treasurer, Recruiter, etc) consists of so you can determine whether or not that person is doing their job, and so that person knows what their job is.

Our club has been together for almost 2 years now and are still running strong, and continually growing. If you guys need any help or whatnot, feel free to get ahold of me... and GOOD LUCK!!!

fallen is a girl btw

not to steal her thunder, because I know a lot of clubs have it, but not every group needs a hierarchy.

Have you ever heard of the Jersey Js?

We don't really have a pres, vice, or tres.... we don't have dues, or mandatory meets or whatever.... its just a bunch of J body enthusaists who get together about once a month (sometimes less) and we all hang out, get a bite to eat, go cruising, then hang out a lil more and then usually thats the end of it.

On average we usually get about 10-12 cars pre meet... even in the cold weather thats been happening recently. No drama really in our club... its open to anyone (including people outside of NJ) who want to come... I dunno if Fallen met him, but one of our guys drove out to a sinister J meet in PA... remember Rich?.... the blue '04 cavalier with the Type J sides? I know a few of your guys came to ATCO with us one time it was pretty fun =)

so... you don't absolutely NEED a hierarchy, but then again, if you get into the club stuff like dues and other crap I don't understand then I guess you would...

but when we do something big (we're having a dyno day in april) we have everyone just chip in evenly to pay for it and it usually works out...

haha I guess that would be communism? but for now, it works.... I guess we're lucky cuz we found a lot of cool cool people to be our core members

It's also good to have something in order in the case you do have drama, how you're going to deal with it. For example: Sometime last year, (I think it was last year? Time flies when you start getting older LMAO)... we had a HUGE bout of drama with an X-member, who shall remain nameless out of respect. We ask members, if they have any drama with another member or whatnot, to take care of it OUTSIDE of club time and OFF the forums (JBO and our club site). If a peaceful resolution cannot be reached, they are to bring it to an administrator (i.e. me or our vice, or events coordinator, or senior recruiter... but def pres or vice pres) for resolution... meaning to have someone hear both sides of the argument, not take sides, but be able to listen to the situation as a neutral party, and try to bring up a compromise. If no compromise can be reached... and the drama cannot be kept away from the club, then one or both has to go. The two involved parties could not agree, so it was brought to me. One person was fine and actually was not-guilty of all charges (haha kidding)... but the other just would not let the issue be at all. So, I warned the person who would not let the issue go, that if they didn't keep it off the forums and club time, they would have to leave... and of course all heck broke loose. They ended up "quitting" the club because I had to choice but to warn them of their childish behavior... blah blah blah.

<sarcasm> oh that was such fun!!! </sarcasm>

My point being, is that this is something you must discuss amongst all members or members to be of the club, and decide as a group which route you would rather take. If you guys can function fine without an "administrative staff", then awesome! If you guys think it would be better to have some administrators to be on the safe side... hold a little election. Find out who wants to run for what, and have them tell you what they would do for the club, and how they would take care of certain situations and go from there. Make a list of their duties and give copies to all the members if you wish, so everyone knows what that person's job is... and feel free to email or IM me with any questions or whatnot! (continue reading... yeah I know long post LOL)

Yeah we remember Rich, he's a pretty cool guy

We don't have club dues at this time, and haven't since we started meeting... and really don't have any "mandatory meets", unless something important needs to be discussed, than all members are informed about the discussion and is encouraged to attend so they can have their say. Since our club is currently sponsored by 5 companies (Yes i know I'm missing one in my sig... i need to find a way to get it on there and not go over the sig limit)... but anyways, since we are sponsored by 5 companies, we have sponsor obligations, and thus ask our members to make 2 meets a month, and if they can't to get a hold of an administrator and let them know whats going on... and ask to attend and/or enter so many shows a year. Which, considering the nice discounts we get, isn't too much to ask (at least we don't think )

While a lot of clubs don't need a Pres, Vice or whatever... sometimes, depending on what it is exactly you want your club to get into... it's better to have some people that can handle things as needed. I ain't gonna lie, it can be rather stressful at times, but sometimes you do need some people who can take charge and take care of things (NOT talking dictatorship).

We're all pretty laid back, and most of the time there's not TONS of stuff for our "administrators" to do (I'm Pres)... but if your club wants to get into sponsorships and plannign events and such, you do need a representative to do so. Most places won't even talk to your club unless you have a President and such. For example, all the companies I've contacted about donating things for a raffle at the show, or donating space, time, etc for our SPCA show... if I was just going to go up to them and be like "I'm just a member"... they'd want nothing else to do with me because for all they know I could just be some chick trying to rip them off for stuff. Having an organized club is one of the keys to a sucessful club. I keep logs of everything dating back to October of 2003 (that's when I decided to start keeping logs). I can tell you who was at what meet, what day, what we talked about if anything, etc... and we meet every weekend... not that that usually comes in handy, but you never know!!!

The Jersey J's are a rare "breed" of people (LOL j/p). They are lucky enough to have core members and people that can function well enough together to not have any "Administrators"... and that is awesome.

BTW... sometime we should have a Sinister J's & Jersey J's meet. I think I met a few of you, or at least one, at the bash last year, and then Rich when he came out... but I think that would be a fun time!! Any of you guys comming out to our SPCA show on April 30th? Details are in the SPCA show post in this forum. It would be awesome to see you guys there!!!

Awwww thanks Fallen

I'm not sure about SPCA cuz April is right around the JJ Dyno day... but the exact date is still in the air, so it's a possibility... I'm sure myself and a few other members would be able to swing by... I'll run it by in one of our posts and see what everyone thinks.

I'm definetly all for a sinister J / Jersey J meet someplace... although we'd have to pick a pretty universal place to meet, alot of our members are cry babies about long distance drives... although myself and a few of the other core members wouldn't mind it at all =)

lets see if we can get like some kind of SUPER J MEET going for like May or something... something REALLY COOL to kick off the spring/summer time!

something that every group of Js in the entire north east is invited to.... something anyone and everyone in the Northeast with a jbody should go to!

drop me an IM on instant messenger fallen, maybe we can scheme something up!

The only reason we ask people to come to a certain amount of meets/shows is because we have 5 sponsors lol. Anyone is more than welcome to come out and visit anytime though... doesn't matter who you are or what you drive, member or not!
