Need vacation destination

I need some ideas to fit the following:

• No more than 4 hours from Lancaster, PA (17603)
• 3 days/2 nights & enough to do for that long
• Around $300, but i can go to $500, that's for 2 people, not each

I've considered Falling Water & Great Adventure (NJ), but there's not enough to do in those areas for 2 days that i'm aware of. Not Ocean City, Maryland for various reasons, beach towns in general aren't what we're aiming for. No water parks. I really wish Camelback mountain in Tannersville, PA still had their alpine slide, that kicked ass! ....but it no longer exists Visitpa.com isn't helping much.

Things that might interest me are a festival or show of some kind, a tour, maybe a cool campground near something else to do.... i'm not really sure exactly, otherwise maybe i'd be able to search it and find something! I'm kind of interested in maybe the Philly Zoo, but i'd need more to do than just that, so if someone knows what else there is that doesn't cost a fortune around that area let me know! I can do the zoo trip in a day, so that's not really a big contender.

I want to hear what places you've been to or know about, links are very much appreciated!

I can't justify spending that much, as well as i don't have that much. Just bought another car, i pay a mortgage on a house we're slowly remodeling & we need to plan a wedding at some point. That's why

Chicago - Southwest is cheap as hell - $75 round trip!! from philly or Pgh

Go to DC and mingle with the peoples if your into that

I go to Deep Creek, MD just to get away. Not too much to do there if your not into the whole lake or woods atmosphere.

Williamsburg, VA

My (soon to be ex) husband took me there when we were engaged for a surprise Valentine's Day weekend and we had a wonderful time.

They have all the colonial landmarks, tours, and small shops to look at. Busch Gardens and some outlets are not too far either.

We're bored with Wildwood I don't really like it there, but i've gone to the classic car weekend the past 4 or so years in September. We're not going this year, we were horribly bored last year and decided we wouldn't do it again. Thanks for the idea though, it's within distance & probably within budget too.

Chicago sounds too expensive - by the time i pay for a gas to Philly, parking while we're gone, 2 plane tickets & a hotel, plus food and whatever we do there... i'm not sure i could do it on our budget.

DC scares me I've never wanted to go there, i had to in school & don't remember enjoying it My fiance also doesn't like museums, so i don't know what else we'd do.

Deep Creek sounds alright, descent distance too. I need something to do though... kinda go nuts just sitting around! Is there ANYTHING to do there?

Almost an hour too far! We don't do historical things either, that kind of stuff bores me. Busch Gardens sounds fun, i went to the one in Florida. But yeah, too far. If you're an outlet nut, come to Lancaster sometime! There's more here than i can handle

I guess i'm looking for something kinda cool that not many folks know about, like the place i mentioned Camelback in Tannersville, in the Poconos. That place is a ski resort in the winter, but in the summer it had an alpine slide, which is a concrete track where you sit on a flat plastic sled on wheels and go down the mountain. It's crazy fun & it's beautiful taking the ski lift in the summer. They also had mini golf, bumper boats, a pool & some water slides. From checking online though, they've taken out the alpine slide and gone crazy with water slides! Anyone interested can see it here http://www.camelbeach.com/.

I get the feeling we're not gonna do crap

We went to OCMD last year in season and it just sucked. The weather was bad, the people were stupid & everything we wanted to do cost a lot. I love OCMD, even lived there for a summer, but i think i'm worn out with it. We may go there in late October for our anniversary, but since it's out of season we can get an awesome bayfront room for $42/night. I kick back and take it easy since i do TONS of overtime in November, so i need the rest!

Atlantic City is asking to spend more money... i'm trying to take as cheap of a trip as possible

Another example of something along the line of what i want - there an amusement park in PA that i haven't been to, maybe 2 hours or something from here. Next to it is a campground. You can walk from the campground into the amusement park, which is free, pay as you ride. Only problem with this is i hear the amusement park SUCKS for older people, it's aimed at familys with smaller kids. If it had some wild adult rides, this would be ideal!

Maybe someone knows of a place with a nice lake & trails where you can rent a bike? ...near some other sort of activity like an amusement park or something? I've dug out my AAA Mid Atlantic book, it's going to sooth me to sleep today

Like i said, if you like watersports boating, jet ski, etc or wood stuff, hiking camping
The night life sucks, you have a couple bars, food places, movie theater but not much.

It is in the middle of nowhere, if you want to relax and quite DCL is your place.

Erie is about 6 hours from here, 2 hours too far. If i was going to go that far, i'd go the extra distance and head over to Cedar Point

Ah crap, when i got directions from that site, it's not he same one that came up when i Mapquested earlier. It's still under 4 hours though, just completely on the other side of the state . I Mapquested Deep Creek, MD... and it says on the one site i visited so far that it's in Mchenry, MD. I'll take a look around at the site, then head to bed. My fiance loves to jet ski & i think he'd enjoy that. I'd like to canoe or get some bikes & small town food rocks Thanks for the sites!

Thanks everyone else who gave ideas so far, it's definately easier to know what i don't want rather than what i do want. I appreciate all of your ideas though, keep them coming!

That's actually something i mentioned in one of my earlier posts, just didn't use the name. I looked at the website again & it does look more enjoyable for younger people, not really for older. Coal mines aren't my idea of fun either, but i'm keeping it in mind.

Sucks not finding anywhere i want to go
