Well for the pittsburgh Area, since I'm sure most people out east will be traveling the PA Turnpike up till new stanton then get of there and take 70 the rest of the way across to indiana.

Well the Pittsburgh people could meet up at the Rt 79 and rt 70 Interchange at Old Exit 18 (exit name is now what ever mile marker).

You have to becareful though when planning because there are two entrance points to 79 from 70. Travelling from East to West on 70 the first Rt 79 Interchange is for 79 SOUTH (old exit 21). The second Rt 79 exit is for Rt 79 NORTH (old exit 19) which is what you want.

ok. Now the key is finding a center location where we can all meet up at. People coming from RI & NY could probably come down to NJ but I don't want the people from PA to go east just so they can meet up with us...unless they don't mind. Is there a straight route that we can take to get to Indianapolis from New Jersey?

Jay, we don't need a hotel in between...we did 10 hours with all the traffic from PA when going and coming from Ohio and it wasn't that bad so I think we can do this. I checked on mapquest and they estimated about 10 hours but you could probably add a couple hours to that. When you have more people driving with you, it's funner.

Well, then a suggestion to those thinking about the turnpike--- I-80 is a much better and more direct route, and NO TOLLS. The only trick for use Jersey peeps is getting around the Gap without getting caught in 4 hours of traffic but after that its smooth sailing.

Maybe there's a good place along 80 somewhere that everyone could rendezvous. Just saying that for those who don't make a lot of money in the first place the bash weekend is going to cause a financial hit to begin with so avoiding the $30 toll at the end of the turnpike would be nice. Beyond that compared to taking the pike out last year, taking 80 home definitely seemed a lot faster.
If you guys take 80 once you enter Ohio you have two options. Stay on 80 to ^9 South but 80 is a toll rd the whole way though the Top of Ohio, Or you can get off 80 before it turns to a tool road and take 71 south to columbus and get on 70 west.

If you do the 80 route you wouldn't meet up with the souther PA NJ and Maryland folk till Columbus Ohio.

whatever happens I want to leave real late at night/ early in the morning so the sun rises as we're driving... it'll help for the long period of time being behind the wheel... nobody will get sleepy.

also, mandy might be driving her cav out there with us and if she does, I might stop with her along the way cuz she's never driven that long before and 10-12hour drive is a bit of a stretch for someone who's never been behind the wheel for much longer than an hour or two.

I think we're going to start her training on the parkway and get her conditioned for the exodus to Idiana.

But if she doesn't take her car then I'm good for a 10-12hour shot in one sitting. Although a bathroom and food break will be squeezed in there somewhere. Also, if we are all meeting up somewhere: EVERYONE GET A WALKIE TALKIE that way we can all keep in touch if someone needs to stop, or gets lost, or just for trash talking and back and forth bantering

YES, EVERYONE BRING A DAMN WALKIE TALKIE! If me and my friends didn't have one...we would have had the worst communication and probably have gotten lost. Also, they make it much funner to talk to people while your driving to keep you awake and entertained. Also, if you have a video camera, bring it.

As far as directions...PA people, where would be the best place (route) to meet you guys at? RI & NY people, do you guys mind coming to NJ?

Ill be going. I have a cn i can use, but you know what would be funny, If we all had the same CD, and sync allthe cars to play the same track at the same time, that would be an interesting effect.
ill try to go, ill be coming from long island, hopefully not alone (MIKE...ABE!!) but like a lot of people, its WAY too early for me to know for sure.

jersey would be a good meeting place for us, and i think for those coming from the NE area.

i agree with the walkie idea....everyone get an FRS radio, and someone pick a channel and silence code, and everyone in the caravan hop onto it.
