And now We have an exhaust manifold leak....
Sunday, October 18, 2009 8:25 AM
The 84 1.8 turbo sunbird ragtop, now has a blown exhaust manifold gasket leak......has anyone replaced one in the car? Looks like the bolts will break off when I touch them, not to say, some look impossible to get at with ordinary tools...Any help/hints here would be appreciated..
Thanks
Peter

I'll see if I can hunt this down in the manual and let you know the steps.

This reminds me--I promised this same service for someone else about something else, and can't for the life of me remember if I followed through (I'd love to think I did, but my memory is failing me). I know it was in the last month since it was around the time I had to go to NYC and Philly in a matter of a few days.

Whoever it was, let me know and if I didn't come through, I will do so.

I have done this as part of a head gasket replacement.

Might be the manifold itself, they are known to fail

Hi.... When I started losing turbo boost, it was because of an exhaust manifold leak on my '84.... I got lucky. All it took was to tighten my manifold bolts to re-establish the seal!! (No new gaskets required....)
I hope you're as lucky....
