Whuzzup With This?

Oh, me of little knowledge...

Today I was driving the Hawk in some really bad rain. After going through an area with water deeper than it looked (but not too deep) I was moving along a bit and wanted to make sure my brakes weren't soaked. So I used my left foot and gently went on the brake while still holding at about 40mph. As soon as the switch on the pedal kicked in, the car went up in RPMs. I tried it a few times and it happened every time.

Anyone know the cause/reason why this would happen?

I'm guessing your car is an automatic. If so what was happening is that the lock-up torque converter was dis-engaging when you hit the the brake. The computer gets a signal from the brake pedal sensor. The lock-up torque converter is something like an overdrive that engages when you hit a certain speed under certain other conditions.

yeah, it's an AT. That makes sense.

I really gotta get the idea out of my head these computers only do spark/mixture.
