1986 cavalier is starting to take shape
Tuesday, August 16, 2011 6:45 PM
The cavalier is starting to take shape. I finally completed all of the mechanical, electrical, and chassis work on my car. I am having the body work done during this winter at my friend's body shop. The car has always been stored inside but as a result of the NY winters it was originally used in the rear outer and inner rocker panels have some slight rust through. I cut out the outer rocker panel's infected areas and will be having new inner and outer rocker panels mig welded onto the car this winter. It is no longer a winter car and a leisurely driver but it has some custom work done to it.

I have to say that many of you have been a great source of information on the J Body cars and I have been looking at this site since I began the build in 2005. I just continue to build it piece by piece until I am happy with it. It is getting close to that point. I will never sell it though. I built this car through technical school and after work. Many hours of blood sweat and tears went into this car and many more will go into it. Look forward to your comments guys. Have a good night.

Looks pretty good Ed! Good to see pictures of 1st gens that will never be sold. I also will never sell my 84 Cav Convertible that me and my wife have had since 1986. We took our first wedding anniversary trip to Montreal in it (1990) and it has a lot of good memories that come back every time we drive it.
