Well, I now have proper VSS signal at the ECM. Installed a 2000rpm transducer in-line with the speedo cable and got the wiring correct
Full test drive to be performed this afternoon. The previous owner tried to cross-connect the 1989 VSS signal, but he connected it to the non-existent Cruise Control terminal and not to the ECM... not that it matters since the 89 VSS outputs 4000rpm and without a digital cluster or buffer to divide it, the 87 ECM would think It was in a jet!
So much fun learning all of this, deciphering what is original 87 and what is now 89...
