Back from our summer road trip!

Hi guys! It's been a while since I've checked the board but I took the Skyhawk on a month-long summer road trip:

-leaving Montréal, we went to the Niagara region for the night,
-then to Detroit where I took some pictures of the car in front of the Renaissance Center,
-then to Dearborn for two days where I did the whole Henry Ford experience (Rouge factory tour, museum, Greenfield village),
-then to Ypsilanti for the car museum there (it commemorates the Willow Run plant, which built the Skyhawk's transmission!),
-then to Flint for the Buick Gallery (the staff loved the Skyhawk!),
-then to Ludington where I took the car ferry across Lake Michigan to Wisconsin to see some relatives.

In Wisconsin there was some driving around to visit family and friends, but I did see the new classic car museum downtown, really neat!

-then it was back on the car ferry SS Badger (where the teenage valet damaged my car, I'm still pissed about that)
-then to the Gilmore museum where I had an AMAZING time,
-then another detour by Detroit to run a couple errands,
-then down to Cleveland for the Rock'n'Roll Hall of Fame,
-then to Buffalo to see the Pierce Arrow gallery,
-then back home!

It's I guess around 3500 / 4000 kilometers, I have yet to count! I got pictures of the Skyhawk at each attraction if you'd like to see.

The car was running SO smooth it was perfect, never overheating, never missing a beat. Whenever I was able to get 93-grade fuel it seemed to run even smoother. The A/C did stop working on the way back, turned out to be a freon leak I got fixed when I got home. An amazing experience that shows J-cars can hold their own!!

What a cool trip. You went to some great places.

I love going on road trips. I always take one of my J's. Been from FL to RI and back in both my 2nd gen, phase II cars. Last trip was in last month in the 94. The 88 hasn't been that far, but has been from here to NC and back a few times.
I normally catch some sights too, when I can (which is most of the time). I'm an aviation buff, so its normally aircraft museums that I try to get to. But have been to a couple car museums too. One in Newport RI.
Already looking forward to my next trip, but don't know exactly when that will be, most likely Thanksgiving.

Boy, that is a CLEAN Skyhawk! How many miles total did you travel? Great pics, too.
