Wow, I thought my '87 was low end. My '82 was pretty nicely equipped, so my '87 seems pretty spartan in comparison (tapeless radio, idiot lights & no tach, manual windows/locks, etc.) but at least it's got tilt & cruise. The ad is pretty light on info, does it even have AC?

I did pick up a Delco 5-band to mod with an mp3 input, though. I'm not completely slumming it...

I think if it were a Limited I'd HAVE to get it, but as I have custom with the same black interior, it just doesn't quite rise to my having to have it.

Why are these always on the East Coast?! Lynchburg, Va:

I think the Skyhawk SCS is the one I understand the least. It has the T-Type blackout parts, but it's not a turbo, right?

The listing has been removed. What year was it?

I think T-Type went away for 1987, while the vehicles still looked very much T-Type. I also believe not all T-Types are turbos. (i'm sure someone here can confirm/deny this info)

Geez - someone snapped that one right up!

He listed it as a 1985, but I bet that's wrong. It had the blackout trim - bezels, taillights, body trim and even had the T-Type interior.

This is out of a 1986 Type buick Skyhawk with a 4 cylinder non turbo. This car a a Very upgraded interior and dash setup!!!!!! The seats were just super cool and paint was really nice minus the condtion of the car.I will say Wayne S. got the cluster out of this car that I reconditioned to the Letter.I am not certain when the T-type left the scene but this was a 86 as stated.I will say for the 87 if it was a turbo car it has the louvered hood and typically two tone paint.I came across a 87 black on gold with a vert top but(NO title and the interior was toast for a good 10years.) It has bbs wheels and the guy wanted 500.00 for it and fighting a title issue plus restoration is far beyond what the car would ever be worth.Wishing yes,but with out a (out right ) title from the original owner signing off was well moot.I in a short version have to share the story. The car was worked on at a shop and the owner never came back to get the car.The shop sold the car to a junk yard which DID NOT get the title outright meaning the car is typically scrap with out the original title owner signing off the sale of the vehicle. If the shop had done this correctly and claimed a lean against the car and gained the title being the work was not payed for then they could sell the car for what the lean was on the car back in the day.Just kind of sucks.Car loses and avid j body guys like all of us do to to keep a neat car on the road for historical reasons and enjoyment.

Wow - that does suck.

I can't quite understand why they'd leave the "T" Type designation when there's no "T" in the car, unless it mean Touring instead of Turbo.

It seems like I'm seeing noticeably fewer Skyhawk ads recently than I did about a year ago, but I guess that makes sense.

The T certainly does not stand for Turbo. About as weird as a Sunbird GT with a naturally aspirated 4, but they were out there. Buick offered T-Types on every platform throughout the '80s, with & without turbos.

Touring is about as good of a guess behind T as anything. Incidentally, Buicks are typically available in 2 trims, Custom & Limited. Customs got an 'S' VIN code, Limiteds a 'T' - always figured it was the same derivative as T-Types were VIN'd as Limiteds.

For the cost of $200.00 yeah a cheap pick up.I am betting the fuel pump is the problem even with out a diagnostic just due to age of the car.Rough it is though.

Looks clean as far as rust. Compared to the 1988 vintage cars up here in the "Rust Belt"

Yeah, if it has spent its life here in Florida, you can be near certain it has no rust.

Looks similar to mine. Wish it was closer.

But I thought salt water caused rust.

Yeah, the PO of my '87 claimed it was rust free until it got to the keys. The underside literally had salt stalagtites hanging on the bottom of the car.

Central Florida can be a great place to find nice used cars, but coastal areas with salt spray are a different story.

If a Fl car has rust it was most likely driven up north on wet roads that were recently salted. If it has always been in Fl, it was probably driven on the beaches or in a flood at some point. Flooding is common in coastal areas. Often up to the chassis and if you live near the water that will be due to storm surge which is salt water. My family has lived in Fl since 1962 and always in coastal cities, often very near the water. None of their cars have rusted. However, they never drive on the beaches and haven't been in a flood where water was under their cars. Of my 3 2nd gen Cavaliers, my 92 and 94 are Fl cars. Neither one has any rust and both of them spent their lives in coastal areas here in Fl. My 88 does have some minor rust, but it is indeed minor. It is a NC car and apparently was driven while salt was on the roads, at least some. Thankfully the area doesn't get a lot of snow and some years salt isn't even used on the roads due to lack of snow.
I go to junk yards all over Fl buying items off of 2nd gen J-body cars. It is easy to spot the cars (any type) that most likely weren't original Fl cars. The ones that spent their life in the south (no road salt areas) are also very easy to tell, as they will not have rust. I can easily tell which ones were not kept in garages too.

Rust isn't an issue here, the sun is. The sun will damage paint, trim and interiors within very few years. Best to have a garage or at least a roof over them. At work I park under a tree that provides shade until around lunch time. I also cover the car every day when I get to work.

That's the first Skyhawk to appear for sale on Ebay in YEARS, as far as I know...

I was never a big fan of the LOOK of the four-door, but that one looks lovely...

Michigan. Odd to see one on a dealership's website.

So clean inside, so rusty outside: http://www.hankgraffdavison.com/used/Buick/1986-Buick-Skyhawk-davison-mi-7bf9487f0a0e0a1709e1ddd340af4a60.htm

The rust on the lower of the door is very typical for most j bodies.

For a 30 year old Michigan car, that's pretty good. The fact that it not rusted in two by now is pretty good.

A manual transmission in a Buick is always a bit odd, too...
