20 grand for the 88

Sure it is nice,,, but I'd be quite surprised to see it sell for anywhere near that much. And it has 3 different type tires on it. And wasn't the front grille a dark gunmetal color? I believe it has been painted black, but not 100% sure. Good luck to the seller though.

Wow, there are still a few j-bodys out there.

Here is one of mine if anyone is interested.

Make me an offer.

Been in storage for three years.

Needs gas tank (leaks over 1/2 full).

Needs doors and dent in rear quarter repaired and then would be ready for paint.

Refurbed interior and replaced top in 2013 (been in storage since then).

1984 Cavalier convertible.
Located in Townsend, MA.

Is that a newer engine in your '84 Vert?
It's a year older than my '85 wagon, but it looks like the engine that was in my old '89 wagon....
I'm cornfuzed.....!

Someone swapped it in.

I think it is an 87 motor. Always ran great and never really checked it out.

Also car was originally white.

Oh jeeze. Not this guy AGAIN. He's had this car listed on Cragslist for at least a year. Then just recently I found it was on eBay as well. Now it's on Hemmings.

A quick Google search of "1988 Cavalier time capsule" yielded these results for the same guy trying to sell this car:

https://www.hemmings.com/classifieds/cars-for-sale/chevrolet/cavalier/1923749.html

http://www.ebay.com/itm/1988-Chevrolet-Cavalier-Z-24-/322445432482?vxp=mtr

Dude's head is way in the clouds. He used to have it posted for $20k, then it went down to $19k, then $18k...now the CL listing no longer has a price, haha. It is a very nice car, and I commend him for keeping it so nice over the years, but he needs to turn the delusion down a bit.

That 89 convertible looks nice. It may have had mice in it though. The hood insulation has signs of them. A dent in the drivers door too, I think. Still a decent car. I like it is a 5sp and blue.

Here is a nice 93 4 cyl, automatic RS coupe with low miles.

Wow - I had no idea the 83 Sunbirds were so close to being Skyhawks... Look at the body protection strips - identical. Swap out the nose cone and rear lights (is that possible?) and the hood and scripts and you have a Skyhawk convertible.

The PRICE seems a WEE bit high...

Post was deleted.

Yeah, the rear lights should be the same shape, always looked that way to me anyway; and it was only a few years ago I also noticed from the side the nose would fit right on.

The body protection strips MIGHT be off, but probably only one way to find out...

Gone already! He wanted $12,000 or $12,500 for an 83 Pontiac Sunbird convertible with 29,0000 miles on it. The body bumper strips - all around it - were identical to the Skyhawks!

I will only say the Most desirable J bodies first gens would be as followed. The Z24vert,notchback,hatchback,and sunbird turbo models vert or hardtop. The most $ I have have ever actually saw bring solid Real $ was $4750.00 for a 87 notchback Z24 1 owner and it had 34k on the clock and just a WOW car!!!!!! I will end this with most j-bodies even in mint condition or less I doubt would go beyond the 4k mark unless a specific model and just super stupid nice inside and out.Our cars just are not Camaro's,mustangs and or chevelle etc and probably will never have that following and or aftermarket service period.Keep In mind I own a simple85 type 10 that at most is worth today maybe 1k in the shape it is in!!! On the other hand book value Is BS as the buyer or seller in todays market really determines that for 30 plus year old J's.

Keep 'em coming! I am hoping to find a first gen convertible with a manual and turbo (bird) or V6 (Cav). I would take a Skyhawk or Firenza GT just out of the sheer rareness of those vehicles any more.

I use Autotempest.com to search all over craigslist and autotrader. You can search quickly for specific models and years.

I wish GM would get with the program and build a Cruze convertible and make an SS version of the car. I had a Cruze Eco with a 6-spd and the 1.4 turbo and it was a great little car. It could reach 50 MPG on the highway (at 75 MPH!) and averaged around 30 in town, but had pretty good pep. I would be their current 2.0 tuned to around 275 HP would be an absolute blast in a Cruze.

Here is a decent 87 Z24 Hatchback 5 speed.

Not perfect, but asking price is within reason. Might get it for a bit less,,,, who knows.
