Keep it stock or mod it up?
Monday, April 18, 2005 5:05 PM
Ok, I am contemplating either restoring my 82 Firenza and buying a 3rd gen to modify, or Get a Firenza GT fibreglass front end(fenders and all), hood and other parts to make custom ground FX, dropping in a V6 ,lowering it, putting on nice rims. Then buying a Geo Metro for a Daily beater???? Let me know thanks.

wow hard choice id say no on the third gen cause they suck, not worth putting all your money into (sorry to all who like them) keep the frienza and don't do to much crap to it, maybe a cowl hood (like i plan on) stereo, rims, paint, sunbird tails.........make it sexy stock with a little upgrade!

ya i wouldn't get rid of it not for a third gen. as for keeping it stock or modding it you should do whatever is in your ability level or what you can afford to pay for.

I would be keeping it anyways. Ok heres what I'm thinking K&N air filter, custom cam, untrue dual exhaust, rims. Restore the rest. But I need a daily driver I will NOT drive the Firenza again in the winter. I'm thinking either a Metro 55mpg is nice or a V6 2nd gen power in nice. Thanks.

I have an 84 firenza gt. From one firenza guy to another, I'd keep it as stock as possible with mild upgrades. You've got a nice original car! These little hatches look great with bigger wheels, nice paint and some sleeper mods to go play. Just remeber, they never were fast, but sure are cool. Give it a couple years and these great little cars will be almost non-existant and a great collectable.

What fiberglass gt front end pieces are you talking about? I can not find any parts for the gt. Let me know.

These parts are from Hairy Glass out of Jacksonville Florida here is the site.

third gens look so much better inside and out more round sleek body style, not that boxy crap, and there is so much that you can do to them... third gen def. why waste your money on some old firenza...

First of all @!#$ off, second of all my "old" Firenza is in way better codition than your third gen hands down. Second of all without this "boxy" "crap" your car would probably never exist. I do want to get a third gen but I am keeping this Firenza because it is rare. Got it?

Dude man chill, he entitled to his own opinion, no need to blow up on him

I love my second gen as well, but it will never be as nice as my Fire

It's all up to you, do what YOU want to do

cavaliers didnt come from Firenzas dood, and thanks LowFire you are totally correct i am entitled to my opinion. BTW that is one hot Fire!!!

First of all I never "blew up" on him. I was simply stating my views. Also I do know that Cavaliers didn't come from Firenzas but they are based of the same platform, so if that platform was not a success, your Cavalier or Sunfire would not have been made. I do know he is entitled to his owm opinion but when he starts calling it crap, he is pushing my buttons the wrong way because he never saw my car and I find it unfair for him to make that assumtion(sp?). That is the way I feel.

I agree with you... i never have seen your car. sorry about that dude...

just not a big fan of the older boxy style cars but good luck with the deal

No problem dude..... It was all a misunderstanding. You may have been generally saying that the boxy styles are crappy compared to the third gens which is true, but just not plain crap. Good luck with your third gen.

I love my third gen. I dont like the way the first gens look at all. Im not to fond of the 2nd gens but there growin on me. then again my first j-body was almost a 93 z24. Like you said its your opinion. Id say if you like the firenza and since its so rare fix that one up and maybe do a little modding. And buy a third gen for a daily driver. Get a 2.2 or 2200 for gas mileage. There not real fast but the gas mileage was good.

damn right that says premium biatch!

i think my 1st gen sunbird convertible is nice..even tho its slo as hell and is mistaken lots of the time for a ford mustang rear. i think all gens are nice tho

I think that way to. I love all gens. But I want a 3rd gen for the sport compact looks of them. My car gets mistaken for either a Mustang, Daytona or a Citation . Oh well.

You got it, mine will make a stop at your place for "customizing" lol.

I like the third gens as they look more slick and sporty but I would not trade my Firenza for one.
