Sad Week

Hey Guys...
So I have an 86 RS convertible with the 2.8 in it. This has been one hell of a week for me. My radiator hose went, transmission went, water pump went, and alternator went. Is there anything else that could go wrong with the car this week? After lots of money and time, it's all fixed, and the car is racing like she's new again. Just got a few questions for you all. I'm trying to find the convertible top for my car. I am seeing on ebay that some tops will fit from 83-94. Is this correct? Another question... I saw a top for an 85 convertible... Same body style and what not. That one should fit as well right? Also I am looking for the knob for my heat/ac unit. The round, chrome knob to turn it higher or lower. I've been checking the local yards here in staten island, and haven't had any luck whatsoever. I believe I have the only 1st gen on the island still in running condition. As always any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
G

For that heater knob try emailing monkeyspunk79@hotmail.com

He knows where a couple RS are at.

As for the top, look on the VIN number and there should be ASC. These cars were built by GM but the ragtops were made, converted from coupes, by ASC. If you get an RS top that is for an RSC convertinble it should fit.

George, the little chrome knob with the red dot (lights up to show the fan speed?)

I've got one. Email me and I can drop it in a padded mailer for $2.00 postage.

And ragtop guys- ASC will not return your calls, letters or e-mails. I've tried 3 times to get through to people there asking for historical info on the J-body convertibles, etc. I've gotten nothing from them. I think they're getting a little too big for their britches, and the last thing they care about is a 15 year-old GM car. Its kind of sad
