well as the title says, What other generation J parts will work together w/ a 1G??
It looks like my 3rd gen cat-back would fit just fine. I also want to find out if I could replace my rusty/crusty springs with my stock 3G springs.
Basically I want to restore my bird, when I get it running right, and I'm hoping I can use some of the parts I have lying around.
Anyone know??

i think the suspension is the same from 82-94, im not sure about the exhaust tho.

The suspension is the same for 1st/2nd gen, but totally different for 3rd gens. Not even close. I'm not 100% on the exhaust, but I know a 3rd gen cat-back won't fit a 2nd gen, so it more than likely won't fit a 1st gen (since the unibody and suspension is the same).
I just recently this summer completed my entire rear end rebuild on the suspension.I basically stripped everything to bare metal and redid it all.Has new springs,trw new mounts and shocks monroe sensatrac and repainted everything,new undercoating,new silicone in the seems for the fenders and on and on.It's all stock of course went with a cherry bomb turbo muffler only had to turn my brkts to adjust the fit.Took me a coulpe of weeks in off time to do,but well worth itCheck out my site

Pretty much anything from a 91 and older J will fit. After '92 they started changing exhaust and suspension.

suspention is all interchangable from 82-94. the only changes were in mid 86, they did a minor change to the knuckle. 92 was the other change when they went to the big brakes and abs. i know the v6 exaust is the same from 85-94, with the exception of the sunbird gt 91+ (its dual after the axle).
lots of stuff is the same from 82-94. what are you realy looking for???
92-94 strut mounts are a different design and won't 'bolt in' to the earlier strut towers.
like they said pretty much everything swaps between 82-94..
the entire interior is swappable, front clip, fenders, suspension parts, the doors, and im sure theres more im forgetting right now.
actualy, the rear pannels in the first gen interior wont swap into a 2nd gen, ive tried.
and yea, 92-94 strut mounts are different, that was the one other change
in 92 they changed the cat-back to make room for the larger gas tank.
doors got seat belts in them in 1990
84 and older have different engine mounts. well on the passenger front anyways
92 and up the strut mounting got changed
