Rear Seat Removal

Hey Board-

I am removing my rear seat back on my convertible. and having issues with the two fasteners at the bottom. They appear to be like a torx head, but with ends that look like little circles. A torx head bit fits in them but feels like it is gonna strip out - any thoughts?

IIRC, it's a T55 star bit.

Yep, its a torx bit like David says, but they are prone to stripping out! Be VERY careful when you remove them, and don't use too long of an extension on there. You want direct contact and lots of pressure on there when you back it out. That seemed to help for me.

I rounded one off on my brother's Oldsmobile and I'm still pissed about it. I also had to cut off 3 of the 4 Torx bolts holding the rear hub & bearing assembly on my sister in-law's Cavalier because they rounded out. Torx fasteners are the worst invention ever.

Good luck!

I may just drive it up to a shop with a proper impact setup.

I really need to swap out the back seat...

Done - drove it to a shop, took them 10 sec apiece.
