Tach installation???

Tach installation, how can I go about doing this???

I have the 2.0 OHV motor in an 87 RS Sedan, but it has no tach!!! I have no clue what rpm the car is at, and I would hate to drive a little too spirited and blow the motor. I know from wonder junkyards some came with a tach, so the wiring exists under the dash somewhere!

Can anyone point me in the right direction? Has anyone does this before? It may sound a little crazy but the motor revs up and gets a good roar too it, but I really don't think its rev'ing that high. And part of the problem is the exhaust was completely redone prior to my ownership, so it only makes it more deceiving as to how hard the car is pushing!
