replacing '91 side marker lens, need help.
Sunday, March 06, 2005 11:09 PM
hey all,

i have a question i hope someone here can help me with. i need to change the passenger side side marker lens on a 91 cavalier. not sure if tehre is a smaller lens on the side of the bumper itself but i'm referring to the lens next to the headlight on the outside edge. i havn't looked at the car yet, but the lens itself has what looks like three friction fit peices and one screw hole. is this correct? and how hard is it to change, is headlight removal needed?

thanks in advance to any replies.

Someone can correct me if I'm wrong, but if memory serves there are 3 plastic pieces that you bolt in. My fat hands couldn't fit in there, so I'd reccomend you take out the whole headlamp assembly to do this, its not hard at all. Just be very careful putting the nuts back on the plastic pieces, if you tighten it too much you might break it off (what happened to me) and be out one corner lens.

its pretty easy with good socket work you dont need to take the headlight off but its MUCH easier... like he said be careful with the nuts on the plastic protusions this plastic is so brittle its comical

it's a replacement lens i ordered through my work from TYC. there are four plastic peices sticking out from the back side of it. three are the same size and the fourth is slightly larger. the three are tapered, with a small hole in the middle of the shaft. the fourth is larger, shorter and has a hole that looks large enough for a screw.

picture might help. the three i believe are meant to be threaded with a metal funky locking nut, the other one got no clue on...
