Preview of Hurricane Hood
Monday, April 11, 2005 7:26 PM
After a bit of a drawn out ordeal, I finally have my hood now. And actually, it was in better shape as arrived than I assumed it would be (since the kit need such tlc). So, there's little sanding to do, but not much. In the meantime, I have two days off from work and I'm about to get into the engine work, so I'll be at the shop doing engine work, body work and paint prep work. Here's arrival shots of the hood:

updates to come from every direction possible. This has turned into an all around restoration.

everything looks straight and symetrical on it (other than the expected roughness and a small chip here or there- easily filled). Granted I haven't lined it up on the car yet but as it stands now, yea, it does seem to look pretty good. since that's like the third hood I know of that diza has made, maybe they've gotten a little better. so, yea, I'll consider myself a lucky one on this piece. I'm still slightly in the dark about my sideskirts but guess it'll work out.

ya never told me, are ya stayin with the org steng?

I sent Diza an email telling them the problem just to see what they'd say. They responded quickly, considering it's Diza. Asked me to send pictures so they could see what I was talking about. Pictures officially sent. I'm waiting to see what they really have to say about it this time. who knows, maybe they'll actually do something right and tell me they'll correct the problem and super fast ship it for the inconveince. heh.

well steng... here's the email i just got from them:

hi,

ok we see the problem and have inspected the mold. We have concluded that the mold has exceeded its lifetime and will need to be redone. We will send you a replacement hood as soon as the new mold is completed. Sorry for the inconvenience.

thanks,

diza

Looks like I'll still have my hurricane hood after it's all over with. I asked them how long it'll take to make a new mold and get me that hood. I'll let ya know what they tell me. But can you believe DIZA actually offered to send me a replacement at NO cost!? hold on, I'm still having trouble swallowing my food. This was too easy.

Well, to anyone thinking or who've ever thought about getting the hurricane hood from Diza, you can thank me for having them make a new mold, and I'll have the first hood from the new mold so it should be perfect. mitch gonna buy your sunvee?

They never said it was at no cost... They just said they'll send you a replacement. I bet there's a hidden cost in there somewhere.
Re: Preview of Hurricane Hood

yea. like shipping or something. do they want the first one back?

Re: Preview of Hurricane Hood

please... let me enjoy this thought while it lasts.

Actually, why shouldn't it be at no cost? I waited twice as long as I should have had to just to get my hood, which didn't fit anywhere close to proper. As far as I'm concerned, if they DO want the first one back they can HAVE it as long as they cover the shipping both ways, which is overcharged anyway... otherwise, I'm selling it somehow or another. I have spent nearly 2grand with them, faithfully and patiently and I'm at no fault for this piece o' sheit hood. and really, the hood was in near mint condition other than the lack of contour. If anything, I'm saving them future grief with customers by having them realize they have a crapped out mold and needed to make a new one. So, as I see it Diza at the very LEAST, owes me a free replacement.

All else fails... I'll grab a Zhood from someone and tell them to bite my american ars.

lol, good to hear, i was thinking about that hood, untill i looked close and noticed the Z24 hood cowls, and thats when i said no and i'll stick to the Vader plan or that CF hood that geeds got. anyone know what happened to that hood and it's problems? cause i would still like to get it.
I even e-mailed the company, and they told me i could send them $50 down and the rest upon delivery and compleation, but i wanted to wait for awhile.

wow, diza actually did something.

they completely b!tched out on my front bumper, they wouldn't even reply to any of my emails, until finally after a few weeks of constantly leaving messages for them, i slammed them on the website. then my response was they wouldn't help me because i bad mouthed them.

thats ok though, fixed the bumper.

I was shocked too... I didnt' expect them to help me like that, or if they did I figured it was gonna cost the crap outta me. then they said it was at no cost. They did get a little non-responsive with my kit, but I've handled my temper real well and I guess it's paid off. It's still a pain in the ass tho cause I need my hood now and it's gonna be at most two months. oh well, I'm not gonna complain. They didn't even mention wanting the messed up hood back, Imma sell it to someone that has more time to fool around with the fiberglassing. so actually, I might get this hood for free in the long run. buncha things are comin together real well for me.

My $1600 rare engine is gonna end up costing me like $900, I have someone fabricating me a custom line lock system for free. A guy who's gonna rework my new exhaust for free. My paint job will be at cost of the paint, I'll do all the prep work. This hood will most likely end up being free. a $1000 nitrous kit, practically in brand new condition, never used is mine, I merely have to fill the bottle. there's more I just can't think of. It's blowin my damn mind cause nothing ever comes easy for me. A lot of it is taking a little longer than it should, but I'm getting out smelling like a rose.
