16" GTZ rims on '94 base model 2dr Cavalier..
Sunday, May 08, 2005 11:27 AM
hello guys, the bodywork is coming along great! my buddy is selling some 16" Beretta GTZ rims off of a car he picked up for parts (for his '88 GTZ). i definately want to buy them, my cavalier is a '94 base model (just a cavalier) but i have the phase2 z24 bumpers, skirts, door pieces, etc... so if i was to put these 16's on my car with the z24 ground effects, how would it look without lowering it? would it look "jacked up" with the bigger rims, or would the ground effects compensate for this a bit? eventually i want to lower it, i have been looking at lowering springs but i think what i would need is coilovers instead. but the money situation probably will not allow for this until maybe this time next year. i really like the GTZ rims, and all that was on it was black steel rims with snow tires.

would these look decent on the car without lowering it right away? or is it going to look stupid? the rims come with 205/55/r16 tires, btw

thanks for any opinions!

yeah that looks nice, i am trying to picture mine with the rims and no lowering lol.. i think i've seen your car before... you swapped in the GTZ seats as well, correct? there is something about the rims that I love. they also come with the centers, and i do need new rims & tires so i think i am going to buy them they shouldn't look too bad with stock springs for the time being... with the ground effects it should be ok..

so did you have to lower your car Syn, or does it look decent without lowering it? i've had my eye on these rims for awhile now and i was glad when he said they're mine if i want them

not lowering it would be the best idea, becuase you have about maybe 1-2 inch gap between tire and fender, idk if they come stock with them but mine have low profile tires that are real wide i'd have to go look at em for the #'s and if you turn your wheel all the way until it can't anymore it will rub so lowering it would be a bad option.

cool. yeah i was just a bit apprehensive about the car looking "jacked up" with the 16's where my base model '94 Cav came with stock 14's

there not heavy to me but most things arn't to me since i am very strong. but my car seemed slower w/ the bigger rims i could get second easy but not as good but the tires were a way better brand and wide

bonecrrusher.....

what size are your tires? (if you dont mind my asking)

i am just hoping the 205/55/16 Goodyear Eagle's won't rub on anything with just my stock suspension for the time being. probably shouldn't be a problem though eh?

I got black GTZ rims on my 91 Sunbird. I think they look killer. I don't have the center caps though and I'm not too sure where to find them

i got 4 center caps with my rims.... they look sooo much better. the guy i bought them off of had 2 sets of GTZ rims and caps... he sold 1 set to me and the other's are still on his GTZ. he had to buy 2 new caps, i will ask him where he got them. i know they cost him a bit though. my rims are blue right now but they are going silver or grey. the car is black, the phase2 z24 ground effects are going black, with the small trim going silver or grey to match the rims.... think this would look ok or?
