Selling Out?

Well guys the Jeep bug bit me bad, I keep fixing mine up and the sunbird keeps getting pushed further and further down the list. I just got a major project today, an 82 Scrambler, my dream jeep . And I'm starting to realize I've got too many cars. So my bird collection is probably going to be up for sale soon. I've got an 88 Sunbird GT turbo vert that runs great (once I replace the cam) I rebuilt this engine last year and it has maybe 4k miles on it. This bird has an auto tranny. It needs a new top badly but the interior is in pretty good shape. There's one spot of surface rust on a door but that's all the body problems it has. I've also got an 89 coupe (courtesy stenger) w/ the turbo 2.0 that needs a head gasket (at least) I bought this car for the getrag 5 spd it has and if you wanted I would put it in the vert for a fee I've also got a 88 LX junker that's probably going to the scrapyard, destroyed engine, rusty body but it does have an Isuzu 5spd. The two parts cars don't have titles BTW. I'm putting this out as a feeler, what would you guys ask for this stuff and if you want any parts off the parts cars let me know. As much as I love these cars I'm finding out how much more fun, cheaper and easier it is to hook up jeeps.

haha.. join the club
My folks bought a brand new 91 sunbird, and passed
it onto me (mom got injured, couldn't drive a cramped
car). In exchange, I bought my folks a 1990 XJ laredo.
I borrowed it everytime the bird was being repaired
and that silly Jeep with that quirky steering started to
grow on me. It grew on me so much I sold the bird
and bought a 2001 XJ (last year they made it, RIP XJ).
Now I'm modifying XJ's and loving it. Next item on my
agenda is a 97+ XJ for my folks to replace their 1990.

So to answer your question. I don't think you're selling
out... switching to a 3rd gen would be selling out big
time ahahaha. I think Jeeps are safe. Jeeps won WWII
How could anybody hate one?

well, interests change. thing with any certain type of car is you can only keep working on it and challenging yourself with it for so long before you get bored (or pissed off) with it. once it happens, you need to move on.

good luck with your jeeps, they are solid trucks.

lol yeah mines more of the pissed off variety of leaving the car Its a fun car but its so aggervating to work on and there was always something going wrong on it. Urban - I bought a Wagoneer Limited XJ last year as a daily driver and the next thing I knew I"d lifted it, 31s, exhaust, engine rebuild, locker, tranny swap lol ya know how it goes. I'm psyched about restoring this Scrambler, I've always loved CJs and the Scrambler is my favorite Jeep

"pissed off" ahahaaaa... that was definitely me.
I still miss the compliments my sunbird would
receive, but I certainly don't miss the expenses
associated with basic upgrades or repairs...
Of course,owning a sporty-looking car that was
slower than most minivans was another solid
checkmark in the "pissed-off" column.

Don't get me wrong, I still miss my old J, but I'm
having much more fun with the XJ after-market.
I can actually ebay my "jeep cherokee" and find
cool stuff everytime.
