scantool info needed

i have a 1993 2.2l cavalier for asphalt circle track racing, can anyone lead me into the right direction on a scantool i can buy so i can re-program my ecm #16134847.

i mainly need to raise my rev limiter a few 100 rpm's.and my computer dosn't have a removable chip...
raising it does help on our track because i know a few drivers that have 94 2.2's that had a memcal made for their cars with the raised rev limiter and defintly lowered their qualifying time. thanks for any help

I don't ever remember hitting a rev limiter when I had the stock ecm in my 93. Is your car auto or manual? Mine is a 5 spd. Anyway, the 93 ecm is indeed "eeprom" equipped, and I don't know of anyone who's set up to make changes in that fine unit. At one time I was heading down the road toward developing some tools to make it possible, but I found what I thought was an easier route. I installed the computer and MAP sensor from a turbo Sunbird. I drove the car for several months without a turbo, just to get the baseline NA tune set up. I did find that the 93 2.2 timing isn't very aggressive. I believe this is because the 93 engine wasn't equipped with a knock sensor, so GM just made sure the timing wasn't turned up too much. I found that there was mor midrange power available by dialing in more advance.

It's not too difficult to swap ecm's and MAP sensors if you can do some wiring. I'd even be willing to burn a copy of my NA chip for ya.

I don't think the OBDI Sunbird computer is all that hard, but a few others might.

My engine is a 95 or 96, which the junkyard interchange says is the same as the 97.

You really should get wiring diagrams for both cars before you can consider changing the ecm.
