Sputtering while cold
Tuesday, June 21, 2005 10:20 AM
I've had the same problem for a while that I can't seem to put my finger on. I have noticed symptoms that could point to either the TCC solenoid, speed sensor, or just a cracked vacuum hose.

Any help would be great.

- When the engine is perfectly cold and sitting overnight, the engine tends to have a very uneven idle. It will rev up and down and sometimes get to the point where it sputters a little bit before it comes back up.

- Unless I let the car run for a bit to completely warm up, the car will start to sputter as soon as I put it in gear and push the accelerator, but it doesn't stall. Once it's warmed up, it runs smooth. However in the winter when it's really cold, the car will completely stall as soon as I put it in gear unless it has been running for about 10 minutes.

Where is the best place to start to figure out what's causing this?
Oxygen and temperature sensors have both been replaced in the past year so I have already ruled them out.
