I am in the same boat. I just rebuilt a 91 sunbird vert 2.0 non turbo and it idles at like 3,000 rpms and then drops to about 2500rpms. I am guessing as it does not have an RPM gauge. It runs perfect but has way to high of an idle. Maybe we both screwed something up when we rebuilt them. My car only has 40,000 miles on it. I replaced every gasket on the car. It has a distributor, I do not know about yours. I replaces the cap and rotor, all the plugs and wires too.

On the inside my car looks like a fighter jet.
