1988 Sunbird GT Turbo Convertible

Well it's been 10 years since I last posted a comment here...and I still have my 1988 Sunbird GT Turbo Convertible. It's still in this same condition with just 19,000 original miles. I bought it new from the Pontiac showroom and it's been garage kept ever since. It runs beautifully just like it was still 1988.

Thanks much. I'm thinking of finally parting with it......but then I take it for a ride and enjoy it too much. It's never even been driven in the rain. But I've had it for 32 years and I just don't need 2 cars anymore. Last year I saw a 2-tone black with grey one (not my favorite look, I like the solid black better) on the Mecum Auction that had just 10,000 miles. The bidding got up to $11,000 but the owner didn't take it. The following month I saw it again on the next Mecum Auction and he took $8,500 this time. I'd take $10,000.....

No one will take care of this car like the original owner has.

I've seen examples where someone buys a car pampered as such and leaves it out in the elements 24-7 and in 10 years it is trashed.

I got a neighbor right now 4 houses down the street with an around a '65 Barracuda with the big back glass - sits in the rain and snow 24-7 on the street in front of his house. He also bought an immaculate 80's model Lincoln and it sits under his tree on the street too and gets plastered with bird poop that bakes in the sun like that. Oh and to top it all off he has a garage in his back yard - let it run down and is dilapidated.....worthless.

SMH - seems like the people with the money just don't give a $hit.

So that is why I can see this car being junk in 10 years or so.

Nice car! Any chance you still have it? I have a 90 LE Convert w/Turbo 2.0L OHC and need to find where my head bolts go. Not much online info on these cars/engines.
Thanks!

Get a 1990 GM shop manual off EBay, saves alot of headaches.

I heard a wise man on hear say :

"Haynes and Chilton will get you into trouble. A GM Shop Manual will get you out!"

I personally try to buy 2 - a nice pretty one for the bookshelf , 2nd ......not so pretty one for the shop. The older the cars get the harder they are to find.
