if anyone knows where the firewall leaks, I would appreciate some advice. It's not at the rubber flapper, but seems to be at the cowl area. this is driving me nuts.

it's the gutter. I had the same problem with my sunbird.

I had a leak around the wire harness that comes out on top of the firewall on the drivers side. There was a small hole behind the harness. I found it by having some one holding a flashlight around that area, while I was under the dash. Hope I was of some help.

i had wet carpet on the passenger side. turned out that ome tree seeds fell and accuulated on top of the heater blower blocking the drainage and built up water in which it roted a hole in my firewall. found the hole from underneath looking up with a flashlight

Hi,
When my '89 developed 'wet carpet syndrome', it turned out to be a bad/leaking heater core. Taste or smell the liquid. If you taste/smell antifreeze, that's your problem!
