I'm glad i went with the prokit.. i think the sportlines woulda been way to low for in town driving. The roads are alright here.. but any lower and i think the ride would be terrible.. the prokit kept the stock comfort though!

oh and for anyone deciding to go with the prokit.. just wanted to let you know that there would be a bit of rattling in the springs.. mine rattle whenever i hit a nice size bump.. nothing thats not understandable though..

CAr looks good with the drop!

Thanks for the info as well, it's nice to see pictures of hp and pro kit as no one seemed to have done this before, you've definitly helped me with my suspension choice

glad to have helped.. after driving it for a few days it does seem a bit stiffer as well. I love how it looks and handles.. its a great kit for a daily driver! plus it does not scrape even with the 03 cavalier ls sport front lip and extremely steep hills lol.

I replaced the worn out stock suspension (236+K miles at the time) with the HPK-291 kit. It was a drastic improvement, but any thing would have been an improvement! As for the ride compared to a much newer stock it's still a bit firmer, but not as firm as the local J Bods in my area (who mostly have coil-over kits and one Sport -Tech). I find it to be a good compromise between stock and the adjustables set at moderatly firm to firm settings. Igf your going to race it (drag or auto-X) on a regular basis or going to go lower, get the D-Specs, AGXs or Konis, you'll want the adjustability. If you dont need the adjustability and are a spirited DD, you be fine with the HPs.

Edit: I've now have about 18k on them and they are still going great. I had some clicking and poping at first, but everything seems to have settled in.

just wondering here but has anybody used those struts with the sportlines? b/c if its true about the internals being the same as the d-specs wouldnt it also be true that they would be able to handle the sportline drop?

The Sportlines have a significantly lower stance. The HPs and GR2s are only warrentied for up to 1.5" drop. Anything greater will void any warrenties (they can tell) and most likely blow the seals in the struts. The Konis wiould be your best bet.

I just cut the bottom "ring" off all the bump stops, that's about 1/3 of an inch of material compressed i suppose

i haven't bottomed it out yet with a 1.8in drop, and i live in a city with pretty bad roads

I only got new front strut mounts, as the rear ones are jsut one piece metal... don't see how they would really break....

I think i paid something like 70 CDN for both? Can't remember, got them off a friend of mine at a parts store, at their highest discount level possible lol

the only think tricky is to torque the strut mounts to spec, you will need an impact gun and a torque stick that's rated at 55ftlbs

I just used a stock replacement mount for 03

why is the 95-99 mount better?

Newer ones are better, especially for the rear since the older ones are famous for the loose lumber sound, newer ones are coated in rubber I believe to help prevent that.
