i will be keeping an eye on this one for sure. i really like the design. i havent been around long enough to see any of the RKS carnage, but i have heard of it and seen pics of their design. these look much much beefier. intrested in road test results for sure. i would love to see some installed pics.

will these support a factory style ball joint? im also intrested in how that camber adjustment on the ball joint works, and could it be had without?

after how well the fender braces turned out, i'm more than intrested in these. price isn't a huge concern for me when it comes to quality suspension parts.

AWESOME looking parts Mark. Are then lighter then the aluminum grand am ones?

Re: Tubular Control Arms

It looks to be reinforced along the tube. From the look of it, on the pics, overall it is a much better design than RKSport's. Nice to have options.
Has it been road tested?
No aluminum for the material? Usually using a softer material you have to form it in a calculated manner in order to have the same strength as steel.
Not busting balls, just curious.
GL too.

BTW these were the RKsport ones.

Those control arms look nice. What about a spherical bearing insert for the grand am control arms ?

Question for Mark-OEM...
When and if you decide to make these, can they be done without the slotted ball joint mount plates?

Re: Tubular Control Arms
Thursday, March 31, 2011 7:13 AM
The slotted ball joint allows for more camber adjustment. Making these even on a JIG there can be slight differences. With the amount of welding we put into them, the more we take away for the slight adjustments needed the more likely the error if that makes sense.

Chris- I think these arms are going to weigh a little more.

Road testing results will be posted as soon as we can get them to the customer

Once the arms are confirmed, we will spec the pricing and make them as affordable as possible.

Okay. I do understand what you're saying.
I'm still very interested in these. I'll be looking forward to see how the road-testing shakes out.

Very interesting. Funds are down right now due to recent circumstances. But I would love new control arms.

What will the road tests consist of?

Looks good. Not a bad design.

OEM wrote:We do not want to use Poly bushings in the rear, poly in that spot is not correct for that application (from our perspective)

I'm curious to know why. And why then use poly in the front bushing instead of a spherical bearing? Also- how much camber adjustment do the slotted holes allow for?

Mark, you have a PM.

And you're 100% right that a spherical is the right bearing for that application.

OEM wrote:Well after a long thought process on how to build the best and beefiest J-body arms I am happy to say we have accomplished our goal. After looking at a few designs in the past and seeing where they failed we have put extra care and consideration into these point and addressed them with the utmost concern. What we have developed here is the strongest set of arms out for the J's Period. We used only the strongest materials and best welding techniques to accomplish this goal. These arms are completed and will be set out for testing in the next week or so before we have them listed officially for sale. A group buy might be inorder if there is enough interest. Enjoy

The price for these will start out at $550. If we run a GB special, we will shoot for $400-475. We wont know until we have all the results in. Should have results and a solid price after a few weeks of testing.

I'm really surprised with as much stuff as you do in aluminum you didn't make these in it as well.

I know it would drastically change price but I know there are people out there will to fork out the funds for light parts.

the issue with aluminum is where its wleded its weaker. welding steel doesn't take as much strength out out of the raw material aluminum is worse if you weld aluminum where the weld is and for get the amount of the surounding area is i think its 30% weaker then raw aluminum thuse way you see aluminum stuff gusetted to hell to spread it out. those in aluminum would be THICK AS HELL. look at how beefy the alumnum N body arms are compared to the stamped steel
