How low is too low
Sunday, February 20, 2005 11:26 AM
Alright, I saw some eibach springs on gravanatuning.com, that will lower moy car (03 cav) 2.25 inches. My question is will I have any serious ground clearance issues with these springs? My car is not now and will not be kitted so I wanted to go pretty low. Thanks in advance for the help.

Tim

"Hey man is that a Cavalier?" "Yeah." What you got in it?" "It's stock." "Oh."

too low is when you scrape on the 1 inch bar by the pit at the jiffy lube!

Sportlines are too low for most body kits....

I had issues with my front subframe brace, smashing rocks on the highway.... on sportlines, but that's about it.

Since I got a body kit, I went up a bit... went with the Eibach Pro-kit.

so you think sportlines would be too low with an Import Fighter front bumper?

I dont understand this concept of a car being too low.

being too low meaning that you're scraping your bodykit everywhere.

depends, measure the clearance you have and subtract the lowering of the spring. measure the depth of the closest pothole and subtract that.

honestly i wouldn't go much beyond 1.5" on the front--CV joint wear.

too low = when you find different routes around a parking lot so you dont have to go over any speed bumps or drive a different street to avoid that one big pothole.

too low is when you dog leg coming out of a parking lot because of the grade, without air.

i have sportlines and there are only a few places i scrape, just going slower or at an angle is enough to avoid scraping. there is no such thing as too low

14.82 @ 97 mph

Ive yet to see a car too low.

But I have seen some trucks that just went to far. Like cutting a foot off the bottom of the body of the truck and and laying on the ground with bags. Its so low that the tires stick up like 8" above the fenders and the bed.
It simply looks stupid IMO.

Yeah, man, I know what you mean. I guess after all these posts, the sportlines are the way to go. UNLESS, there's a set that will go just a bit lower. If there is, can someone let me know. I like really low cars, I just didn't know how low the sportlines would be on our cars.

i have dropzone coilovers almost all the way down and i have some clearance issues but can make it over most speed bumps, but i do have to take different routes because the ride quality sucks! i guess some konis or agxs would help since im riding on stock struts still. one little bump at 55 feels like i hit a pothole, yet to take my car on the highway since its been lowered thinking about putting springs on instead

i think anything lower than the pro kit is bad for the car. it depends what your aiming for and what weather u drive ur car in.
