Re: HOW TO LOWER A CAR-THE RIGHT WAY (FAQ)
Friday, June 18, 2004 5:14 PM
not really, some people claim they can see 1/8 of an inch.... pro kits are 1.4, goldline is 1.75, so its roughly 1/4 inch... unless you are a stickler you;re really not gonna tell 1/4 inch difference.

but companies who manufacture struts have a way of telling when you abuse struts and go lower than you should have, so def watch out.
so for the money, which would be a better spring to get?
im not looking to slam my car, as it is my daily driver, and i need it for winter.
btw, i will be staying with my stock struts, and i know the consequences already.
the front page has all you should get...

just throwing coilovers on stock struts isnt the smart way to go....

read page 1
well you know the consequences, so you already know whatever you add will more than likely blow em so you gonna be riding on blown struts soon, so no matter what spring you use you are gonna be bouncing around... which isnt good....

so why worry about spring quality if you dont have the dampers to control em?

just asking
yes i know, but untill i can afford koni yellows, is it ok to just throw them on, will they just fit automatically?
Re: HOW TO LOWER A CAR-THE RIGHT WAY (FAQ)

they will fit, but the ride quality will be crap...

if you dont have the money, best to wait...

reasons? well know know about the ride quality, having to pay for alignment twice, and you prob know about how you damage other parts when you ride on blown struts...

just like everything else, you prob didnt pay for it in a day, save up and do it once man, thats my only advice...

sometiems rushing, does more harm than good.

you're call though.

k, lets pretend im geting konis
which is a better ride, goldline or prokit?
like i said, thats why i said READ PAGE 1 which already states, the lower you go the harsher the ride....

from now on, listen...

i'm telling you where the answer is...
Re: HOW TO LOWER A CAR-THE RIGHT WAY (FAQ)

yes, i read it, i know, i didnt just skip to the last page to type this you know
i know the difference between these springs is just a 1/4 of an inch, and i know the lower you go the worse it is
all im asking is that since they arent that far apart, which would be a better quality spring to get
i didnt post this to get on anyones nerves or start an argument
im just wondering which would be a better overall quality spring in some people opinion, instead of just the straight facts
Re: HOW TO LOWER A CAR-THE RIGHT WAY (FAQ)
Friday, July 02, 2004 4:47 PM
well pretty much the question you are asking is which one is better, which is like asking, whats better... pepsi or coke...

half will say one the other half will say the other....

i dunno, i usually base most of my choices from facts, rather than opinions....

if i based most of my stuff from opinion, then i would have a pretty screwed up ride, with jet chip controllers, and other BS things that dont really work, but the opinion of alot of newer people says it does, when its dyno proven, not to work

pick the height you wanna be at, and go for it. thats all its gonna boil down to.... both are quality springs, but obviously the lower you go the harder the ride....

cant break it down much more than that

but like said above, pretending you are getting konis is pointless....

if you arent, no matter what your gonna get, you will bounce without the proper struts... you can get ferrari to make you springs, if the struts wont control it, its gonna suck...
with a coilover setup, would adjusting the height once a week be overkill or harmful in any way, or is it normal?

no

thats what some do for autoX, and no you dont need an alignment.
Re: HOW TO LOWER A CAR-THE RIGHT WAY (FAQ)

also would putting a large amount of weight into the car once a week hurt anything with coilovers......adjustment set high with all the weight?

unless you need extra clearance, i have driven around with a full car of people from football.

me from Towson U football at 6'1 295
chris at 6'0 260
chris cousin mike from JMU football 6'3 295
and Wanderer also from JMU football at 6'8 325

so i doubt it... just drive, prob wont need to adjust either
Any info on the arospeed lowering springs? I read that the coilover kits are stiff but nothing on the lowering springs. I got a set for a friends car off ebay a while back and he never put them on so now I can get em if i want em. I've got the eibach prokits right now and I wanted something a little lower and stiffer for the auto-x. Are these worth a shot? They're definitely the right price!

i;d reccomend goldline before arospeed.
Arospeed is not a bad spring it is just that the spring is much stiffer than most, which mean a rougher ride
