!!UPDATE!! LF lift problem on easy street
Saturday, March 05, 2005 9:34 AM
Well I think I have found the problem. I removed the front struts this morning and made an alarming discovery.

The left front strut shaft ( the part that moves up and down through the bag has some bad scaring on it. When I push the bag up and down i can feel it brass sleeve on the top inside of the bag catch on the shaft and lift the shaft up as the bag goes up.

If I move the bag fast the shaft doesnt catch. so I am trying to figure out what would cause that.

But wait it gets better....I took off the right front off and its starting to do it it too. I am at total lost as to what would cause this problem. Is this normal? I know everything was installed correctly. I even rechecked the hardware after 100 miles to make sure everything was tight. I only have about 500 miles on the kit.

Has anyone else had this problem?

Anyone have any ideas what would cause this. I know I have to send it back to airlift anyways but still curious.

DId you remove the bag from the strut? Its just two screws at the bottom. Take it off and see whats going on witht he shaft. SOmehow some trash maybe in there and scratching it all up.

Your not going to hurt anything. THere are rubber rings that will easily reseal when you put it back together.

I am all that is man

I still cant figure out what is wrong with the front struts. I do know however that they have changed the mounting hardware for the struts on their kit. the spacers and washers are now fused together and the hole for the shaft to go through is now larger. I have the pieces to change mine over to the new style, but the struts have to go back to airlift first.

Im not going to take the bag off since its under warranty and I will let them handle it. the scarring on the shaft is around the shaft instead of up and down the shaft. and the marks on the shaft are only in one spot on each shaft.

you still use the same main mount, but you have to drilll the hole to 1" and you use different spacer/washers.
