rk,Tein coilovers(ride quality?)

Now i have kyb gr2s and eibach sportlines and the ride is horrible because the gr2s in the rear are both blown plus is was never that great to begin with. My girlfriend has a newborn daughter and i dont feel comfortable taking her in my car because the ride is that bad. So im in the market for a new suspension tein has a basic kit i found for $818.00 anyone have this kit, or the rksport pro street kit for $1200.00? Any help on this would be great, im also plan on getting a set of 18s this summer so this has to get taken care of first. Thanks

the ride on coilovers is going to be MUCH more harsh

i would suggest a set of konis with your sportlines, or even go back to stock

reason being, coilovers have a MUCH higher spring rate (more bouncy)... keep in mind they're always (or should always be) paired with a proper set of struts

either way, there's quite a few guys on here with the rk setup and the "guy in the yellow sunfire" that has the tien kit

Thanks bro, So id be better off going with konis? I would think an expensive coilover set up like tein or rk would offer much better ride quality because the struts, shocks and springs are designed to work together but i could be wrong

when i had rksport pro streets, i started at the bottom ( OMG HORRIBLE) and went up. I got to about 13 threads up in the back and 10 in the front and still was not impressed with the ride and at that height my car was HARDLY slammed. I hear alot of good things about Ground Controls / Konis. I personally am going KYB AGX with H&R Springs now. Should be a decent stance with a nice ride. I like the adjustability.

yes and no

kyb gr2s are an OEM replacement strut, and as we all realize... oem struts are no good for lowering

now you have to think too, any aftermarket spring is gonna have a lot higher spring rates (stronger spring, more bouncy) and OEM struts don't have the valving to handle going up and down so fast, much less when they happen to bottom out....

konis are about the only strut on the market meant for lowering for our cars

and yes, package sets are paired to work well witch each other, the struts work well with the springs but i think with a good set of struts you shouldn't have a problem with the eibach springs

i'm sure weasel will chime in on this too... he might offer more insight as well

also, coilovers setups like rk and tein are about performance...

when you go for performance.... you sacrifice comfort....

i think about when i put in my motor mounts and intake, sure it's loud as hell.... but that really doesn't bother me and yet it REALLY bothers some people

currently i have a set of konis and ground controls sitting on my floor

they've been there for a while, all the while my friends making fun of me for not having them on yet.... i always say though, it may ride like crap, but it will handle like nobody's business

i know gr2s are a stock replacement, but at the time almost 2 years ago when i lowered it, its all i could afford, now that is not the case. I think im going to buy the konis and if i dont like the ride with them, then ill get the prokit and take the sportlines off. It would be nice to have a performance suspension and still be able to drive in comfort.
